I am interested in the paranormal but nothing has happened to me. I went on a ghost hunt with my boyfriend and his friends and they were chickenshit. I'm the one that will ask for evidence from the "ghosts" and run around with a camera and flashlight. Nothing freaky or eerie or vaguely interesting has ever happened. I've dealt with Ougi boards, seances, all that stuff. I want to believe but nothing has proven itself to me, so...fuck it. I DO believe in Voodoo and Hoodoo, though. I don't mess with that shit.

1) Aliens are not my friends. They scare me. (I hope an alien does not read this and try to kill me )
2) I've heard of weird things, but that's mostly because I am obsessed with the History channel and they'll often play shows that discuss that kind of stuff.
3) I also believe in Voodoo (from the 'gras land that is NOLA, so how can I not?). And I don't mess with that crap either. Freeeekyyyy!! Anyone else here seen Skeleton Key? It scared me, 'specially 'cause it was filmed in my city. Wheemper!

Eh. I actively believe in poltergeists, but really, beyond that, not so much.

I used to be into like, Wicca and pagan stuff, but that was just a phase (don't we all have those?). A few weird things happened (or maybe that was just the shrooms), but meh.

I don't really believe in ghosts, but I haven't had cemented proof one way or another. Same for just about everything.

I've experienced more than my fair share of paranormal activity.
I've seen, felt, and heard some incredible things ever since I was a child. I can firmly say that I'm a believer.

I have had a lot of weird things happen to me. Dreams that came true, lights flickering around me for no reason, things shifting about, weird synchronicities, etc. I study astrology and clairvoyence and other things. It's a hobby of mine.

I haven't ever done an investigation, but I've seen some weird things in my time that I cannot explain. I absolutely believe in the paranormal, but I also think that people overestimate what these paranormal beings are capable of doing and that most sightings are BS.

I watch Ghost Hunters, I think I'd like to go on an investigation with a group like them

I have heard of things, but never seen with my own eyes. I am not convinced, though I will believe it when people tell me. My partner used to always discuss these things with me, and I just thought that she was a loon (which she is).

I used to be a paranormal investigator while living in Montana. I was the historian of our group - the one collecting the behind-the-scenes histories of locations and the people who were there. I also introduced the 'mapping' procedure: making a floor plan of the location and writing down what was witnessed by whom in particular spots. Interesting work ... absolutely no pay. (The honest ones won't charge for investigating claims of paranormal activity.)

For the most part things can be explained through mundane reasoning - a building's age, electrical reactions, neighbors' lighting, etc. I myself prefer to experience so-called 'hauntings' before I'll believe them. However, I've experienced things that cannot be explained by mundane reasoning.

Whatever it is, it's not currently understood.

What about you?
I was JUST going to start a post about this!!!!

I lived in a haunted house as a child, and most of my Dad's family is Sensitive. My grandmother and great grandmother saw ghosts on a regular basis.

I would go on about the ghost in our house when I was a kid, but I'd hijack the thread!

I also know when a house is inhabited, usually just when I walk in.

When we would look at houses, when we were buying our houses, (One at a time, we're not rich) My Man would always look for my reaction in certain houses, because he knew living in a haunted house is NO fun. There were places I would walk in the door and walk right back out again. "Nope!" Not wanting to offend the owners, sometimes the real estate agent would ask what was wrong, and I'd just kindly tell the owners I am too sensitive to live in a haunted house. A lot of the time they'd freak out, because they already KNEW the house was inhabited. One of our real estate agents actually asked me to please not say anything in Open Houses, because it would scare people away. A lot of the time the real estate agent KNOWS when a house has an entity, and they really don't want to share, unless you live in a state like CA where that information actually legally has to be shared.

We spent a 4 day vacation in a haunted cottage and I was miserable the entire time. The only room I could relax in was a new room which had just been built and seemed to be unaffected. It was a nightmare vacation, and we spent as little time in the house a possible. I know when the second time we came up the drive, after going into town, I felt depressed and cold and just sick as we approached the house. The place was absolutely infested with mice and they stunk, and the smoke alarm would go off in the middle of the night, and our stuff was moved around, and there were noises and my Baby had nightmares, and I Didn't sleep for four days. The next time I get a Warning when we rent a cottage, I am going to INSIST we cancel the reservation and go somewhere else.

I'd love to take part in official ghost hunting, but as it is, my friend just have me come over to see houses they have rented, are thinking of buying etc to get my opinion on the Status. I had one friend who WANTED to live in a haunted house (UG) and one of the apartments she was looking at was just scintillating with Presence! I told her, "DO NOT rent this place." SHe thought it would "be fun" and rented it, and after less than 3 weeks, she was miserable, and depressed and scared out of her mind. She had a 6 month lease and couldn't afford a second apartment, so she had to stick it out. I did the best I could to Protect her, so she could at least sleep comfortably but the next apartment she rented was happily Entity Free!

NO, I'm NOT crazy. This stuff is real. The Dead are among us, and they get scared, too, and try to make us aware of their presence.

I know the difference between a "Fear Cage" caused by electrical malfunctioning (like Chili mentioned) and a real entity. Yes, many weird things can be explained, but the Dead are Here!

My husband and I do ghost tours when we take trips for our anniversary. Some of them are just walks of the city, listening to old tales of creepy things about the owners of the buildings and such.

I swear I saw my grandmother's ghost pacing the hall the night before her funeral.

I had that. It was an all black ghost tho, like black mist. Go figure it's a bad omen and usually has connection with death. Years later and I'm not dead though.

This is fascinating!

I've had many psychic experiences, but not many recently. I seem to be losing my touch.

The most intense one was a nightmare that someone was running the wheels of a car back and forth over my brother's body. I woke up with my heart beating out of my chest with fear. It took a full half hour for me to calm down and realize it was just a dream. My mom had a similar nightmare the same night.

But three days he was hit by a car and died.

I have a question for you P'Gell. Do ghosts only appear in houses where they died in that house?

I heard a comedian who lived in an old house in Scotland say that when guests stayed several nights, after the first night he would ask them if they heard the ghost. They would say no, but the next morning they would often say that they did hear it.

He didn't think there was a ghost. He was just planting the idea in their heads.

I was just thinking about this. I used to see a ghost on a daily basis that looks exactly like my husband but is always dressed in a white t-shirt and jeans. He tucks me in at night and takes care of me when I don't feel well. I thought he left when we moved but last month I noticed that he has in fact moved with us. This is the fifth place he has followed us to...kinda neat in my opinion.

I was supposed to go on this investigation at this local famous house but it didn't happen.

One day I went into the cemetery to my dad's grave, I had a radio station on that comes in crystal clear throughout the area. As soon as I passed through the gates I lost reception and it sounded like a woman crying, this continued until the second I exited the gates.

My son, about a year or so ago, at age 3 1/2 told me matter-of-factly that "Grandpa Joe is right there" one day. I asked where, he pointed and said by the window. I asked what he was doing and he said reading a book, my programming book was on the other side of the furniture on the floor and is just the type of book my dad probably would have flipped through in life.

There's been a few other minor things here and there too.

My parents were trying to get the street the house was on made One Way, because kids were drag racing down the hill. My dad did some research (this was after years of living with a Presence that was obviously a child) and found out a little girl who lived in the house in the early 1960s (less than a decade before we rented it) had been hit by a car, by a Drag Racer and killed!

Freaky stuff. I was a very well behaved child, but we couldn't keep a baby sitter, because they would freak out from the Manifestations. The basement door would shake and seem like it was going to be broken in, you would hear a ball bouncing down the main stairs, and then little foot steps after it, the light switches would go "Click" during the night, but still stay off, but be in the ON position. Notes would be played on the piano. My Mom's crystal goblets would get "Pinged" by something, and one of them got sheared off completely in half, like it had been cut with a glass cutter. My record player would turn on all by itself. I saw more mists and fog IN that house than anywhere outside. I saw ball lightening in the backyard, speeding toward the house once. I could go on and on. My Mom would hear "Mama? Mama?" and come in and think it was me, and I would be totally asleep or asleep in an other room. I get chills thinking about it. We lived there for almost 9 years.

Your question, ghosts can appear anywhere they felt comfortable, Entities often will die somewhere other than their house, yet inhabit that house, because the people they loved live there or used to live there. Graveyards are not usually haunted (although they can be) because people don't hand around there when they are alive and Entities tend to inhabit places they felt comfortable in in Life. A house in which no one died in could certainly be Inhabited, because someone felt comfortable there, or is still looking for people they loved while alive.

Ghosts, for the most part, are sad entities.

Wow. For several years after my brother died we heard strange things like doors opening or closing or dishes rattling when no one was around. Once the whole family was in the backyard and we heard a toilet flush inside. This only lasted a year or so.

Story from my mom:

When I was just taken home from the hospital after being born, there was an incident that happened. It was the middle of the night and I was fussing (being a baby and all), my mom when to go check on me. When she got to me, she saw an older woman standing over my crib. "Don't worry, he's just fussing. Go back to bed." is what she told my mom. My mom, a believer in the paranormal and in no mood to deal with this, did just that.

The house I lived in from 0-8 was built by a married couple and a brother in the 1830's(?). They were originally from Germany and she had a couple things stashed in the house at least 2 of them died in (where we lived).

He spent time making sure you all were OK, then he moved on to the next Plane of Existence. What you described is really really common. It must have been comforting to have him there, and I am sure he felt comforted by still being with his family, until he could move On.

My Man had a brother die when he was 11 and his brother was a teenager. The same kind of things happened, for about 2 years, then I guess he moved on. It's healthy for them to stick around a while and it's also very healthy when they decide they can move on, and don't need human contact anymore. I'm sorry about your brother. He's in a Good Place, now.

Ghosts who STAY usually have unresolved issues or don't realize they are dead and CAN'T or are afraid to move on. Sometimes they need prodding. I had to tell my FIL he had to leave, because he was hanging around a little too long after he passed. My kids were complaining "Grandpa is still here and he's freaking me out." So, I had to use some Kosher Salt and some prayers and basically just say, "Stan, we love you and I Know you miss us, but everybody is freaking out, and it's time for you to move on. Please let yourself move on to the next phase, you'll be OK. Really." He left that day.

Did she continue to help out or was it a one-time thing?

I would imagine that it would have been scary for your mom, but with a new baby she was probably exhausted glad for any help.
