Young folks (like under 30). Do you iron?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
Is that a "dying art"? Do any young people iron anymore? Do they even own irons for anything? Just wondering.

21 years old and don't even own an iron

but I do need one. I sew (occasionally) and the results are much better when the fabric and seams are ironed.

22 & the ONLY things I iron are items I'm about to sew (hems, etc.) My clothing never gets ironed & it never needs it. Wrinkles fall out when the garment is hung up or a while.

I have ironed pants & a few things that were just horribly wrinkly, but not in years & only when I was desperate. My iron only gets used for sewing purposes.

Usually I toss it in the dryer unless it is a certain material that even the dryer won't help

I rarely iron. I've done it a couple times for sewing projects and a few for clothing that wrinkled badly.

Nope! I just hang my clothes in the bathroom before I shower if I want the wrinkles gone and let the steam do it.

I iron plenty of things, sometimes a little spray on starch and an Iron will get the crease in the jeans looking good in between going to the cleaners for a professional press. Also I CAN NOT stand when other men wear dress shirts with wrinkles in them, it's tacky! I'm 23 and grew up in the "country" as much as that time is thrown around, I iron, can sew enough to make simple things, along with a lot of other things young people seem to not know how to do these days.

I do. I've always loved it.

21 and I do from time to time. I suck at it. I am still in school though, so once I actually have to wear a collared shirt and tie everyday I will likely pick it up quickly.

I do not iron

20, I do have basic knowledge of ironing and when I was living on campus often got called upon by (mainly male) friends heading out on important dates who needed their outfits ironed. An easy way to make a few bucks! I do have fond memories of my mother ironing all my father's work shirts way back, but don't often iron things myself just because I don't have many formal clothes (why iron jeans?).

I iron fabric before I get ready to sew/work with it.

20 here. Definitely do NOT iron. The only times I iron are when I'm sewing something.

Can't say that I do. I don't really own any clothes that require it.

I iron my clothes when they're all wrinkly.

I iron quite a bit, but that's just because I sew a lot and need to iron fabric + seams/hems. I doubt I would own one if I didn't sew.

Yes I iron my clothes when I'm going somewhere nice.

I iron things when they need it, or when I'm sewing. My parents made sure I knew how to iron my own shirts by the time I was in middle school.

I own an iron! In fact, I'm the only one of my roommates who does XD. I have some things that need to be ironed (my choir dress, some of my interview shirts, a couple other cotton dresses), but I don't iron most of my clothes because they don't need it.

almost never. I have a few shirts that look horrible if they are not ironed (linen), and I started making a quilt that involved a butt-ton of ironing. Needless to say the quilt has been hibernating since I got to the ironing step!

I don't iron at all,I just hang things up or fold them fresh out of the dryer.

My husband does iron his button up shirts though.

I would if I had anything that needed it, I used to iron my blouse and skirt for choir concerts all the time. =)
It probably helps that my mother taught me things like that at a young age, but I actually find it somewhat of an enjoyable activity.

I'm 26, and I do own an iron. That being said, I can't remember the last time I used it.

No. I don't really own the types of clothes that need ironing. I will only do it if something has been in storage and becomes crinkled because of that.

No.
We have a wrinkle free button on the dryer that keeps it cycled so clothes don't cool enough to wrinkle so if I've nice clothes in the wash I hang them before they cool -shrug- keeps the clothes neat but I don't like those pressed seams in shirts.

Hoping I'm not too old for the results you want (32), but I rarely iron. I'll break out the iron for sewing projects or specialty items (anything with pleats).

I'm lazy, and also most of my clothes would either melt or scorch if the iron was too hot. Most of my wrinkles are taken care of by hanging in the bathroom to steam during my shower, or run through few minutes in the dryer with a damp towel right before I need to put it on.

I've had an iron for a couple yers..only used it, like, once! I SHOULD use it more often, maybe if I get a better job where I CAN wear nice clothes! (work in a plant! )
