My husband and I live in a house on an acre of land. It's a fairly good sized house, but some of the rooms are small. It was a Chicago bungalow and the people before us put a second full story on it, with 4 bedrooms and an other full bath. It also has a full basement, but like most old houses, the basement is scary and cobwebby and yucky.
I'd love a first or second floor laundry room.
We need a lot of room. I lived in apartments when I was very small and when I was in college, I hated sharing walls with people. I'm a light sleeper and I get headaches. I love having our own space. We gave up a lot of things our friends were doing when we first got married, like fancy vacations, new cars, lots of clothing and even new furniture to buy our first house. It was worth everything we gave up! We used the equity in our first house to buy our house with the land. We got lucky, but we worked hard, too.
