My wife's preference is Cowgirl - and that works for me as well. Second would be doggy - as you describe it frees up both partners for more motion and velocity - the banging of bodies creates some intense feelings.

It really depends on the person I am with. If their dick is bigger, sometimes doggie style hurts for me, but that was my favorite with my last partner. I also am boring and am very good with missionary.
