Lingerie model exits the runway - saying her body is now just for her husband!

Contributor: Gunsmoke Gunsmoke
Kylie Bisutti says she ended career because her body was only for her husband!

As with Tim Tebow - the media is apoplectic because someone cited their religion as a reason to act - or in this case stop acting.

WOW - I must say I admire her for having her own convictions and deciding to stick to them. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision but it sounds like it was the best one for her.

To each their own. I respect her decision.I just hope it was hers, made for the right reason and well thought out. If it was then good for her. As for me/us we have dropped several churches and versions of Christianity that have pushed the hard line on don't dress like this or act like that. (Only included because of the religious components mentioned in the initial posting ).

Good thinking.. And this guy will be the luckiest one in the world.

A marriage is a holy bond between 2 people only, and that includes every thing related to intimate: from kissing to bed work.

An interesting choice, but I'll agree, her husband is one lucky man!

That is awesome! Still though, if your nude body is already out there... then well, it's already out there. This does remind me of the Project Inspired thing though! Not sure who or what the famous female who started it was, but I'm a member of the project and promote it all the time. I love it!

Wow, I feel like she's treating her body as her husband's "property." What kind of example is this for other women who are interested in the profession? I feel like this tells women that we can flaunt ourselves as much as possible, but when or if we do become married, we need to be "good women" and reserve ourselves just for husbands. I'll admit, I'm confused by this.

But, ya know, to each his own, I guess.

Man if she knew she was going to do that she should have not decided to be a Victoria's Secret model in the first place, she knew she would have to be half ass naked all the time. She just wasted all them 10,000 other girls chances for nothing. I am not knocking her for her religion or what she did but come on now think before you do something. Guess the money was to good at the time.

I'm not so into what she did. She can quit if she wants, but wow. To say that her body is her husband's and she can't flaunt it because of her faith... Eh.

If you watch the interview with her that I think is linked in this thread somewhere - she states that when she started - she was a newlywed and this was her goal - to be the top model or whatever.

However, after a couple of years she realized that she no longer felt comfortable with what she was doing.

So she didn't go into it thinking she was going to quit. She is indeed going to continue modeling.

In addition, she states in the interview part of her reason for this was to be a better (healthier?) role model for young girls. She shares about putting her makeup on one day while her 8 year old niece or cousin was in the room watching her. She was trying to make small talk with them and asked how they were doing or what they were thinking or something and the 8 year old said, "I want to stop eating so I can look like you."

That opened her eyes (along with other things) to the fact that maybe it was time for her to quit.

For many Christians, this is the belief - from a portion of I Corinthians. However, in tha portion of scripture it is talking more about [gasp) - sex - how the partners should not deny one another because their bodies belong to one another.

I did watch the interview from the link . As far as her niece goes they see it every where and yes she will continue modeling may not be for VS, but she still has to keep her figure, so if her niece or some other girl comes up to her again and says the same thing, what she is going to do quit all together. Well that would be the right thing to do.

I don't think being a model means your body belong to anyone, but it's her body and her choice to do what she wants so good for her.

Looking at the fact that a size 8 model (the average size American woman is an 8 or a 10) is considered "Plus Size" in the modeling world, I don't know how much influence she can have on that niece by just not modeling for VC. She'll still have to stay unhealthily thin to model anywhere.

If that's what she wants then its a great decision.

It's her decision but I can't help but feel like it's laced with patriarchal influences. It sounds like her body is his property, and being a lingerie model should have no impact on a marriage.
