How do you feel about the song Blurred Lines?

Contributor: bellaapple23 bellaapple23
I liked it at first and then I actually listened to the lyrics, and I was appalled. Consent is not a blurred line, and objectifying women the way he does through the lyrics and the video makes me upset.

I never heard of it until I saw some gifs of the video and lyrics. It is an absolutely disgusting and insensitive song. It just doesn't demonstrate any sort of respect to women or rape victims. Why the hell would one even need to make a whole song about "gosh its hard to get sex from women I know they want it but they just won't let me!". No, it's pretty simple that if a woman actually wants it they would let you. If they don't want it, or they stop wanting it during anytime in sex they're allowed to tell you so. The same for guys in vice versa, if guy's don't want it they are allowed to say no.

I just-- do not like the song whatsoever.

I don't have much opinion on the music of the song, but for lyrics it's just messy in organization. Plus a lot of the lyrics seem rude-ish to me, and they don't talk about women in a very classy way. Not to mention some of the lyrics are pretty strong triggers for rape victims.

As for what it's about, it isn't entirely about consent but given the term "blurred lines" is pretty much defined as "It's hard to gauge consent buhh". Tiz a pretty poor song title choice, especially mixed with the spammed "I know you want it" chorus thing.

c: Anywhu just to clear up any possible confusion that could occur over my earliar statement: If someone happens to like the song they're allowed to! I personally don't think well of this song, but anyone else who may like it shan't receive any spite from me or anything.

I like the song. I never really got any bad vibes from it; even when I actually sit and listen to the lyrics.

I don't think the song is actually about sexual consent being a blurred line. I think it's just an intentionally risqué song about sex, nothing that hasn't been done a million times already. I like the music video. It reminds me of old gay 90's pop culture. Plus rape fantasies are a thing with some people and I don't see why song lyrics should shy away from addressing harsh topics. Censorship stinks. It's up to the listener to decide their opinions on such things. Singers just sing.

I think it's hilarious.
I never felt like it was about consent, I felt like it was about the "blurred lines" in where a relationship stood.
