Yes. But I find my children aren't as creative as we were. My kids tend to make the item on the package and don't experiment with other designs.

Same with my son. He tries sometimes though.

I think they are better in that the pieces are more varied than when I was a kid. Plus you have the option of having a custom design built by Lego too. But I think the sets of old MADE kids use their imagination more which to me was part of the fun.

I really wish they still made good Erector sets still!

There are all these ornate sets now. It's intimidating.

Yes. I would have loved all the Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings sets as a kid but they didn't do franchises and only one of these franchises (SW) existed when I was a kid. I also think there's more variety now, especially with sets marketed to girls and/or gender neutral sets.

The 'Girl' Legos are more detailed but I think the space ones in the 70's & 80's were better.
