An article today link describes how a new synthetic pheromone - they dubbed "chemical sex smell" - is being used to trick female 'Vampire Fish' into traps, thus saving the Great Lakes from further devastation from these unwanted inhabitants. Apparently the fish has were accidentally introduced in the 1800's and have been progressively wreaking havoc ever since. File under: weird but true.

It's bad enough to have an invasive species problem, but to have a VAMPIRE invasive species problem? Wow.

Wow that's some expensive sex smell! Oh well, at least it works on vampires! I'm not sure why but, I can't help but wonder what it smells like.... Probably not garlic! =P
