So I recently started Fifty Shades of Grey and have only got 3 chapters into but so far I like it and was wondering if anyone else is/ has read and what you think?
Fifty shades of Grey: do you like it?

There's a few threads on Fifty Shades around.
I personally haven't read them and don't plan to. From what I've heard it paints a bad picture of the BDSM world and the types of relationships people (myself included) have within that world. I'd prefer not to spend time reading something that's going to piss me off.

Parts of it are okay. It does paint a bad picture of the BDSM world and that types of relationships that people have within that world. It also paints a picture of a virginal woman with no self esteem being swept up into an abusive relationship with a really hot guy. It's just okay.

I haven't read them but I'll admit all the hype has me curious about them I am thinking about checking them out.

My wife breezed through all three of them back to back!

My wife was looking forward to reading the books. She finally got them and read the first one pretty quickly but said it was not the best writing and was not actually very interesting. She said it read more like a bad dime store romance novel.

I started reading it earlier today, and am already up to chapter 5. So far I don't care for the style of writing, and I find myself wondering what all the hype was about.
At this point, Christian Grey just seems like a controlling stalker rather than a dominant... and Ana seems like this sad, lonely little girl that's nothing more than an "easy victim" to him.
It's an easy, quick read though -- so... I'll read all the way through it, and I'll probably read the other two books... but I don't think highly of it so far.

My friend had me read the first paragraph while we were in the bookstore the other week, because she wanted to see if I agreed that it read like something off of fanfiction.net. It totally did (though since it started as a fanfic, I can't say I'm surprised) and we both wound up sadly shaking our heads.
Now that's not to say that the small look I got was horrible, and truth be told my friend and I both often enjoy fanfiction, but I'd expect higher quality writing from something that's getting so much praise and attention.
I don't really have too much desire to read Fifty Shades of Grey, and even if I did there's many more books I'd rather read first.
