What rules do you keep when dating an older man? Do you have tighter holds or allow him more freedom?

I really don't have any guidelines that are only for certain age groups. The rules I keep about dating pertain mostly to honesty and respect and I don't see any reason why I should expect more or less out of someone my own age, younger, or older.

Obviously, I don't know what sort of degree of age-gap we're referring to here, but I don't think it'd ever affect my behaviour toward him. At least it hasn't for me ever.

How much older are we talking about here? I'm also a bit confused as to why I'd have tighter holds on an older guy than one closer to my age (or allow him more freedom). Maybe some clarification would help?

I didn't know age made much a difference unless it's like maybe 10, 15, 20+ perhaps, then yeah the relationships won't be without its challenges. I don't see how it'd make a HUGE difference though.

I can't be of much help however, I tend to end up with men younger than me.

I just meant that usually when dating a much older guy, he expects less junior high controlling-ness and more maturity.

I've always dated older men but I've always gave them freedom. I feel like I would be that way in any relationship.

My experience with older men have been hit or miss my most recent started when I was 21 and then 16 years my senior. I wouldn’t recommend dating at that age with such a major age gap, I had learned the hard way he wanted freedom and just fun with me no strings attached but was never able to communicate that. I enjoyed it for what it was. That being said it depends on the man and what y'all agree on early on. Life’s too short to guess the dynamic and be unsure where you stand. Communication is always key and knowing what yall are looking for and your expectations are before diving in deeper is most important. However I will say depending on the age gap expect to be on completely different levels in life. It can’t be a very sexy and rewarding experience though! ??
