I think astrology is really fun, and sometimes I can tell whether or not I'll be compatible with a person before we ever start dating. But, sometimes, not so much. I'm a Gemini and my partner of three years is a Sagittarius, but we're supposed to be polar opposites!

Astrology is a pseudoscience and any "results" are coincidental, which explains why results like yours exist. It's not my thing but if people find it fun and interesting (and possibly even believe it), more power to them.
Sometimes it can be fun to mess around with just for the sake of seeing what "compatibility" or "horoscope" you get. It's interesting to see what fits you and what doesn't. There will likely always be at least one thing that fits you because the writers of these astrology things make sure to use the most general and generic problems, etc. they can think of so that it applies to almost everyone, same as those fake people who "talk to dead people". For example, "stop worrying about money" (because who doesn't?) and "you will meet someone new within the week" (because, unless you're a hermit like me, you're likely to meet someone new, even if only briefly).

I don't look at it as a way to determine compatibility with a potential partner but once I'm in a relationship with someone I'm sometimes curious about their sign and how we match up.

It's cute. I look up stuff and see what it says - usually accurate, and gives advice on what to look for. I prefer more interactive methods of divination (tarot, palmistry), as the reader can also act as interpreter and therapist, so there is an active second opinion going on.

I'm thinking back on my previous relationships and the one I'm in now, and all of the instances where I hooked up with someone who fell before me in the zodiac were absolute disasters. Pisces and Aquarius being the most tumultuous. I don't necessarily rule out certain signs but I am aware that I get along with certain signs really, really well and others not so much. So far, the Leo/Libra combination is rockin' the house and has been by far, the best relationship of my life.

Most definitely not. The idea that people share similar traits based on when they're born is completely ridiculous to me, so I don't give it any sort of thought at all.

As much as I personally love and study astrology, I don't believe that it has too much influence in the people I choose to date. Sure, there are common characteristics people tend to have with their Sun sign, but it really all just depends on the person. If you get an in-depth reading via a natal chart, it could show that astrology has some part in getting along with friends and companions.
Basically, I see astrology as a interesting little hobby. Sometimes it is spot on while other times it isn't even close. I just know that my particular natal chart describes me damn near perfectly.
