LDRs take a massive amount of work on both sides and can come with a lot of roller coasters of emotions along the way (you aren't there for your partner when needed, one person is having major life events without you, one person is having fun/socializing when the other is working or lonely, etc). They can work but they aren't easy and the odds probably lean towards them not working in many cases. You'll never know if you don't try but just be ready for the challenges.
