Never had either happen, but I've left my dildos in obviously spots before. My mother comes and lets my dogs out while I'm at work. I do a better job hiding the pet snakes I don't want her to know I have than I do at hiding my dildos. If she has seen the dildos, she hasn't said anything. But I left one on the couch once. Oops.

So essentially, I'd vote the sex toy option. Less explaining.
