I don't drink heavily at all, but my parents would sometimes let me have a glass of wine on special occasions around 16 or 17.

Raised by a recovering alcoholic, been to too many AA meetings where I saw what could happen, never had any interest ... then I decided to have some champagne at a friend's first anniversary party and didn't have any adverse reactions. Only socially drink now, and that's pretty rare. Can't stand beer, though.

If you count tasting alcohol, 20. If you count Otherwise, probably 22 or 23, and even that rarely.

I was allowed to drink a few wine coolers at the age of 12. I always knew someone by the time I hit 14 to buy it for us. I never had a problem getting alcohol when I was to young to purchase it. And when I was under 18, I did drink and go out parting, but I did worse things then drink alcohol too. Now, I drink, but I don't drink that often or that much. I never have more than 3-4 glasses of wine or whatever alcoholic beverage I'm drinking. You just need to know your limit and stop. If you can't control how many you have, you shouldn't drink.

I'm sure I was a baby. Babies in my family had whiskey rubbed on their gums when they were teething! My parents or grand parents never said "no" to tasting any food or drink they were eating or drinking! So probably 18 months or 2 for sipping. I can remember sips of wine, beer, martini, black coffee at age 2. I think they thought we wouldn't like it and then we would ask for something different. My father especially believed in not having alchohol be a forbidden fruit. If we asked for too many sips we got the look. When I was 17 I had my first mini serving of wine at a family dinner. The legal age was 18 when I was growing up. Now I'm a social drinker. None of my siblings are heavy drinkers either.

I don't really drink, except on rare occasions when I'll have one or two. Usually just one. The first time I got drunk was at my first college party, the first weekend I was away at school, when I was eighteen. It was an awesome, fun, lighthearted, harmless experience and I look back on it fondly.

Not until I was 18 and in college, and I've still never been much of a drinker. At most, I'll have two to three drinks while hanging out with friends - usually I'll only have one. I don't drink and go out to big parties, I don't drink with the goal of getting extremely drunk... I'm generally just not big on the experience of getting truly wasted. Mixing cocktails is fun, though, and I'm from an area known for excellent wine and microbrews, so I'm glad to have finally developed a moderate taste for alcohol.

My parents never had a problem with me having a wine cooler or two at home or something like that. However, the first time I got drunk I was 19.
