What to do for our one-year anniversary?

Contributor: Sex Positivity Sex Positivity
My beau and I will have been together for a year on June 1st, and I need to start planning. We're both under 21 (but prefer not to disclose our ages, beyond that, for personal reasons), so drinking is pretty much out - neither of us really like alcohol, anyway.

But, I don't really know what to do for this significant anniversary.

About him: geeky, computer guy. He has a traditional "hipster" look, but not the mentality. He's a huge social activist, just like I am. He's obsessed with new tricks and gadgets for his iPhone 4 and his computer. He loves photography, but doesn't currently have a camera for take pictures - that's out of my price range right now, anyway.

So I've been toying around with a few ideas. My birthday falls just six days before our anniversary, so we have a lot to celebrate. I'd like to make a weekend out of it. Help me out, Eden!

I'd say get a hotel room, but one that has a lot of activities offered, like couples spa, horseback riding, hiking, boat rides etc so it's really fun.

Granted, I don't have experience with one year anniversaries but I think that a nice night in would be really romantic! Or maybe going out to eat and dancing or something really special for the two of you.

This sounds really nice. The only thing is, we stay in often! So, unless my family or his cleared out for the night, it wouldn't be much different than a normal weekend. If I could figure out how to spice it up a little, that would be a great option.

Ooooh! I didn't even think of a spa day! That sounds so great to me.

Staying in can be very romantic. Get some candles, things for a great meal, and some flowers.

I agree. This does sound really lovely. However, his mom and little brother would still be in the house if we just stayed in.

Depends on what your both into. You can stay in and get romantic without any distractions or go camping (I like to camp so that's why I checked it).

It's all about experiences and making memories. If you don't have a huge budget, Groupon or LivingSocial, etc. can help you. However, I'd recommend signing up for a class or something along those lines.

I like camping. that can be fun if you are out in the woods alone.

if you are without privacy at home a hotel room would be a great idea

If you're both social activists, then spend a weekend volunteering or doing something together while giving back to his favorite cause.

A bed & breakfast can be nice if there are things to do nearby. Of course, if you're both outdoors types, camping is a great choice too. I think it's good to get away from the usual so you can focus on each other. A night in can be alright, but there's a tendency to fall into the daily routine.

This is what I was thinking. As I'm typing, my beau and I are sitting on the couch watching Forrest Gump after baking cookies.

It's nice, but it is kind of routine for us.

This is a great idea. Perhaps we'll see if there's a rally going on.

I dunno, if he's a computer guy would he really like being in the woods? Staying in an urban area sounds like a better idea
