5 lessons learned from 18 years of marriage

Contributor: Jul!a Jul!a
Ok, these are very obviously not from my 18 years of marriage (since I haven't been married that long), but seeing how many of them my husband and I seem to have going for us already? I'm even happier. This isn't meant to be gospel (or at least I'm choosing not to take it that way) but I still think it's worth looking into and reading about anyway.

I've, so far, only learned that I shouldn't have gotten married. Too late now!

Wow - really good article - after 32 years of marriage - I agree with her.

I tend to agree with this article. I think also it is important that there be mutual respect in the marriage. When people stop respecting each other, that's when things go really sour.

I like the article. I've only been married for 8 years, but I've learned that you have to treat each other with respect, honor's each persons need for time alone, never call each other names, think before we act.

All of them are good suggestions, but I would say number three is one of the best! Laughter is the best medicine. Back in our younger days, when asked why she loved me, more often than not she would say "because you make me laugh." Try to look on the bright side and laugh in the face of disappointment. Not only will your marriage be stronger but you will have a lot less stress.
