I'd say any relationship in which there's an intent of staying together for any decent length of time, even if it doesn't work out to a certain length.

You can have a long term relationship that lasts a month, if, when you get together and have "that talk" that you have at the beginning of a relationship, you indicate you want to be together for awhile. Then, it just doesn't work out.

I considered my realtionship with my boyfriend "long term" after about 6 months. We've been together for 3 years now.

I considered my first relationship long term after the first year, we've currently been together 25 years.
My second relationship was long term fairly quickly because we both decided it would be. Sigel and I never really discussed these things but Arch and I did and do. Arch and I have been together 5+ years and have known each other for nearing 10 years.
