I have been in the same situation, only I prefer for my partner to be more aggressive. I tried to tell him to be more dominant in bed and he told me that he doesnt like the thought of hurting me.
What I found works is just consistantly have talks about each others limits, kind of easing them into the idea. For instance, I had to first start out with typical stuff like pulling hair ect. Now im trying to work on the restraints
