How would you categorize "poly"?

So, I recently went to a game my school held.

At it, they discussed "LGBTQ terms" and "polyamory" came up.

We were supposed to put each term in one of four categories: gender identity, gender expression, sex, or sexual orientation. Someone tried putting "polyamory" in sexual orientation, and many from the crowd protested and said you can be straight, bi, anything, and poly, so it wasn't an orientation

I was wondering how you all would categorize poly, and if it would need a fifth box, what would you name that box?

I would and usually do categorize it as a love style. It doesn't fit any of the categories you have named because it is an inclusive type of arrangement and doesn't specify gender either identity or expression. It isn't only about sex and certainly doesn't specify sexual orientation. Being polyamorous means you have the ability to love more than one person at a time romantically and practically and that goes far beyond most LGBTQ terminology.

Sounds like it was a fascinating discussion though!

I wish I could have participated in that discussion! It's sounds like it would have been interesting! Definitely agreed with Airen Wolf though, it's definitely a love style.
