Too bad I'm busy this weekend...

For the Furries in the midwest, this is going on this weekend.

Has anyone ever gotten into this? What's it like?

I'm not a furry, but I did have some interest in anthro art when I was younger and went to a con to meet up with some artists I knew from the internet. I went with a friend who was even more into the scene than I was, so it wasn't scary or anything. Hanging out with the artists was like hanging out with artists at any other con... lots of sitting around doodling. I avoided most of the actual con events and had limited contact with people in fursuits. They honestly kind of creep me out.

For a period of about six months, I was into furries (I was also underage and watched way too much anime). I never went to cons and I didn't have the internet, so my thing was merely associating with artists and RPG'ers at school. From my perspective, it was fun to mix the human intellect with the animal instinct and even consider the contradictions it would cause. During that time, I role-played a Russian forensic coroner catgirl named Dr. Mishka in my RPG group (I think we were doing Shadow Run). Funny as hell when I would be explaining the state of the corpse in a thick Pottsylvanian accent, then start playing with the streamers attached to the AC unit when it switched on and cooing 'dangly-dangly-dangly' ...

My furry thing is just limited to reading the webstrip 'Kevin and Kell' by Bill Holbrook.
