Anniversary Dilemma...To SNICKER or not to SNICKER?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
It is our 31st anniversary today. Since high school, she has loved Snickers bars. I have always gotten her one for every single "holiday"...birthday, anniversary..etc, for all these years. (NOT the only gifts, silly). Now, we are DIETING seriously, for our daughters wedding next year. She has made me VOW not to sabotage her diet by bringing candy and "crap" into the house. However, do I say "oh this one is special" and get that SNICKERS BAR tonight..or NOT????? I am SO torn on this???!!!! That is a LOT of time in the Treadmill to get rid of it...on the other hand, we are already going out to a nice dinner, so what is one little candy bar? WHAT TO DO, what to do?

I would just get her one of those bite sized ones. That way, she's treated, it's special, and it doesn't kill her diet! Just make up for it with lots of "sexercise"!

I'm with PropertyOfPotter, get her the little one as a gesture. If she doesn't want to eat it, then you can set it aside and give it to somebody else.

Third vote for getting one of those bite size ones your keeping tradition she gets a little treat and not blowing the diet good luck and Happy anniversary to the two of you

If it's tradition, I'd go for the whole one. Who says you have to eat an entire candy bar at once? Give her half and tell her you'll help her finish it, or that she can have the other half tomorrow.

The reason I'd vote against getting her a little one is that usually you have to buy an entire BAG of little bars, and someone is going to have to eat the rest of them! So unless you can take one or two out and then leave the rest in a candy dish at the office and keep your hands off of them, go ahead and buy the big one and eat it in two or three sessions.

I regular full size snickers bar has about 270 calories. That's the same amount as a complete frozen 'diet' dinner. I would go for the little snack bite. It keep the tradition alive, but doesn't sabotage her weight loss goals. Happy Anniversary!

I like the bite-size idea. As for the fact that you generally must get a full bag, save the rest for Halloween?

THANK YOU EVERYONE for the great advice and suggestions. I was going to go for the BITE SIZE, and just dump the rest on the break-room table at work (they would be gone in under 10 seconds)....but then I saw an "original size" bar (ie. SMALL) and went for that. Put it next to the three dozen roses and VOILA...great smile and no accusation of "ruining her diet"....oh, and the suggestion about working off the calories in bed, instead of at the gym tomorrow morning. I LOVE it. Thanks everyone!!!!
