TV In Bedroom - Yay or Nay?

Contributor: EnChAnTiNg EnChAnTiNg
I recently read an article that married couples should not have a television in their bedroom because it will affect their romance. What do you think?

No, and there's no need for one.

We have one and it only really gets used as background noise for the hubby to fall asleep. Most nights I end up turning it off before I fall asleep but sometimes I don't feel like getting out of bed so it'll stay on until he gets up for work. It doesn't have a negative impact on our romance, if anything it helps because we can watch porn or whatever together when we're feeling in the mood for it.

I don't really see how it would affect things. Besides, there's always laptops.

There's one in the living room. I don't think a TV is needed in the bedroom. It just distracts from sleeping and relaxing which is what I believe a bedroom is for.

My husband and have almost decided to put a TV in the bedroom at times. But we really feel like it would distract us from each other and "us" time.

We have one in the bedroom, and it doesn't detract from anything.

I don't think it'll take anything from a relationship

Right now I live alone and I have a TV in my bedroom. I love it because it's great for watching movies, but I can see the concern. I used to watch a ton of TV and it got in the way of doing other things in my life.
I would want to read a book, but because I automatically turned the TV on when I walked into the room, I ended up doing that instead. I can see that it would get in the way of having romantic time.
Having said that, I think I would still have one in the bedroom, but maybe not hooked up to cable.

We don't have/want one. Closest we could get would be bringing a laptop in if we wanted to have a lazy day in bed

we have one. its a nice place to watch a movie sometimes. It does not effect our romance. It pretty much only gets turned on during the weekend. And never late a night.

I agree with this. I refuse to have a tv in the bedroom. I had one ex-boyfriend who would leave the TV on when we had sex and would turn around to look at the tv. It always made me feel awful and he always claimed I was over reacting.

I think it does but couples can actively try to counteract that.

We only use it to listen/watch when folding clothes to put away or play Apple TV music.

i wouldn't say it has a direct affect on romance, but it does cause more distraction and sleep loss, lol

We always have a TV in our room, I only use it to watch morning news and traffic, and it does not affect our romance at all.

We have a 46" TV in the bedroom, it does not affect our romance negatively...I would say it almost is a positive, because a TV that size in the bedroom makes the porn we watch almost life size.

We do have a TV in our room - we both always have - but do not notice any negative effects other than when one of us is trying to sleep and the other is watching t.v. We are newlyweds though

We used to have one. I used to think it helped me fall asleep. We took it out when we moved. Actually only have one in the house now. I was very surprised how much better everything seems to be now. We spend more time in the bedroom doing bedroom things.

We do and love it. Sometimes we are not tired at the same time and this way we can still go to bed together but have something to do.
