With 5 kids, my sweetie and I rarely have the chance to slip away for a date, but we always plan time together on Saturday nights when the kids have gone down. I am hoping to get some new ideas of what we can do to change things up a bit. We often play games, watch movies and take walks. Any different ideas?

My SOs and I have shows that we always watch together (using the TiVo to save them until we have time, which is often a while, haha).
Taco Night is one of my favorite dates. Haha. We set up a buffet style taco bar in the kitchen. Also, ordering in food together (where we live there are soooo many options, not just the usual Chinese and pizza). I also occasionally like to cook a great meal for everyone.
However, I'm guessing that you already cooked for the kids, and so that might not be a FUN idea. However, what about a pot of really nice tea and some little cakes, or a dessert coffee and some cookies (decaf for both if that's an issue), or some of another special beverage? (I don't drink, but I'm guessing alcohol is something a lot of people would like, hahaha.)
I like to read aloud and be read to, so that's something we sometimes do. We've read whole books together that way.
We also will put on music and lie together and listen. We're huge classical fans so we'll listen to entire symphonies or operas that way. But we also will just cuddle and listen to rock or other types of music as well. We love music!

Renting a few movies and cuddling on the couch, if we go to the bed I'll pass out like an old lady lol.
Getting out the massager and oil or lighting a massage candle.
We play the Wii on occasion.
We have some mutual friends so sometimes we will just go hang out with them and sit around and talk and watch movies, I prefer that over going to the bar and having to yell to hear one another over the loud music.

If video games, you might want to try a board game or a card game... instead of focusing on a TV, you focus on the strategy and your partner. Could be fun for foreplay!
You could start a book, and read to each other, acting out the different parts. An adult book, though not erotica. Perhaps something classic.

My favorite was his birthday last year, we ordered pizza and ordered a movie on pay per view and then ordered a porn late at night and got freaky. great night
