I prefer having sex when I am in a serious relationship. I can't have one night stands because I want all the emotional support and other benefits you get when you are with a long-term partner.

A pattern with me is that I begin having sex with someone regularly, and then we end up in a relationship, so I answered relationship since it seems like as it goes on the sex generally gets better.

I am 19 and my girlfriend and I have been together for a little over 3 years. She was my first official partner (besides a little something that happened with a guy before I came out.) I love being in a committed relationship and it is so much better for me to be in one. Sex to me is about the intimacy, companionship, trust, and love that you get from another person that you are committed to. Sex with her has been amazing. We've done nearly every goddamn thing in the book. There is nothing I wouldn't do for her. I couldn't see myself giving my body away for something that is not even a commitment. Mind you that before me and her got together, I did not feel this way at all. I said "who cares, it's just sex." But the love my girlfriend and I share has made me realize that sex is so much more.

I prefer to be in a relationship--even if it's just a sexual relationship, I like having a lover that knows what I want, and I know what he wants. One night stands don't work for me, and single sex is really unsatisfying. To each their own, though.

If I'm having sex with someone, I'm looking for more than just an orgasm. I can get an orgasm without someone else (and if we're being honest, with less hassle). Also, since I have trust issues, a relationship means that the person you are with respects you and your wishes. And that is really comforting to me.
