The Contiuing Saga of trying to join the Video Age

Contributor: P'Gell P'Gell
So I finally made a video I think is passable. I say that because I will never think anything I do is good enough. I will pick it apart, and make an other one. Then, I will find problems with that.

I did about 10 of them yesterday, and didn't like the way the camera was positioned. So I borrowed a tripod (because, despite being a photographer since I was, like 8, I can't find ANY of our tripods.)

Now, what do I do? It's for the Wahl Masager, the toy I did my first review for Eden for.

It was fun, but nerve wracking. Now, I'm thinking, "Did the cord look too short?" "Was I showing too much cleavage?" (Hey, it's how I'm built, but, I'm not wearing a turtleneck) "My voice sounds weird." "What if someone thinks my bedroom is tacky?" (I mean, really? Who has a WATERED in 2010? Only My Man and I, evidently.

So, do I go to Eden Media? Do you guys put the music in the beginning? I have NO idea how to do credits. Do I just sent it as is? (I don't think it needs any editing. I re-did it, like, 14 times.)

Does the video automatically go onto YouTube? Now, I have something else to worry about.

Is there a tutorial?

I don't know if there's a tutorial but I'll look. Til then, here's a post from Carrie Ann from a few months back that has lots of useful info in it-

link

Good luck, and stop being so hard on yourself - I'm sure you did a GREAT job

I'm going out to buy by new webcam tonight I think, so long as Target has the one I want

Couple of key points. Do not just send your video as is. Lol. I don't have time in my day to edit everyone's videos and you're getting compensated for a finished video with intro file.

1. Always ask me before doing a video because we only do one per product and someone else may have that product "out" for a video already or it may already have video. (The Wahl does but I'll let it slide this time cuz the review it has is a comparison. )

2. You need to email me (I can't send files via the message system) to get the intro file. (CarrieAnn at edenfantasys dot com) Then you need to add the intro to the video using Media Maker or whatever software you used to edit the video. Credits can also be added in movie maker by clicking the "credits" link on one of the screens. (I don't have it memorized but i'm sure there is online help available for microsoft products)

3. You upload, once you have a completed video, via the review area in your dashboard. Find your review of the product and, at the very right, there will be a button to "add video". Click this, click upload video, upload the video. (JR posted a useful tutorial on how, exactly, that works) Or, if you haven't done the text yet, do the text, then once you hit submit the next screen will have the option to add a video at the top.

4. Once you are done, it will go live on EdenTube within a few minutes, on the Community Page once it is live on ET and your text review has published.

5. Email me to let me know you've uploaded it so I can pay you your gift card

Most of this info is in more detail in both the tutorial JR posted and the guidelines Tori posted.

thank you, I will look at this. I was able to put it on Movie Maker (with help from one of my kids) and made titles and stuff.

I'm waiting for the intro from Carrie Ann (you know, the song with the girl and boy at the beginning)

I had NO idea my computer would do this. It is SO cool.

You guys are great!

One thing, is there a way to crop the video frame entirely in Movie Maker? I think my mouth looks weird. Really.

Oh, Carrie Ann, I didn't know to ask about the product first. I did the Wahl, because it was my first review for Eden, and also, I am The Goddess of the Wahl. (j.k) I'll email you now.

Anyway, if it's not OK, it was a learning experience.

It's on the "reviews" page and on Eden Tube. It's also featured in my review (written) for the Wahl.

Where the video is

The Wahl Page with video

my review with video

It's also on Eden Tube. It was really fun. I had the most fun with the credits and stuff.

Yeah my favorite part is adding all the effects and credits. I just wish I could find some damn extra effects somewhere (for free) to add some more variety! You did a great job, much better than my first video review- it was just me talking for 5 mins with the intro lol...

Do you have Windows Live Movie Maker? A lot of effects come with that software for free

What software did you use to edit your video?

Windows Movie Maker. I had NO idea what I could do with this, until my 10 year old showed me. (She's credited, by the way. I'm the "Clueless Mom") I just ripped Why Don't We Do It in the Road? from The Beatles Anthology III (I wanted something different than the White Album track that everybody has heard 1,000,000 times) and stuck it over the credits. Movie Maker makes it SO easy to do.

My 10 year old does little movies with puppies and kittens and pictures of Harry Potter and stuff like that for YouTube and is quite the Computer Age Child.

I use Windows Movie Maker and I have Vista, is that essentially the same as Windows Live? I just wish there was a way to import more effects basically, I have a feeling I will be using a lot of the same ones after a while

It's crazy all the things you can do on there huh? Have you messed around with the timeline view? I have been experimenting with it. When I did my DD4P review a couple of the effects were actually accidents on there... lol. They looked cool though so I kept them.

I know it keeps me up all hours of the night playing with effects and whatnot to make some cool videos!

Is that the story board thing? Where you can "edit" and add music and stuff? If it is, then yeah! I've only done ONE full video so far, but I am really excited. I tried to edit the middle of the review, because I said the same thing twice (about the Wahl being ergonomic) and wanted to edit out one of them, but I couldn't get it down to the tenth of a second and it looked weird and kept creeping back in, so I left it.

I'm going to do an other one soon. But, I can't film until I have the house to myself on Monday. Too much going on here, with kids and Man to do that.

I'd LOVE to do a video for massage oil or something with My Man, but I don't know if he'd be into it.

He wants to make Videos, but not the kind I'd put on the internet.

I think it is, mine just says "Windows Live Movie Maker" not sure what, if anything, is the difference between that and just "Windows Movie Maker", I'm on Vista too.

Yeah you can switch between storyboard and time line. I personally like the time line better, because you can fine tune things better there. The only issues I have been having are with getting good lighting- my web cam sucks and my glasses always create a glare which I dislike. I am thinking about playing around with different styles beyond just straight head on conversational reviews.

I think it would be a great idea to have Your Man help you out with a massage review- he wouldn't have to show his face!

I wouldn't put that kind on the internet either!

LOL those are the kids my husband would like to do too! haha

I have gotten him to assist in a few videos..like the one where I needed him to donate his hands to show the bondage ties and one for a cock ring video where he held the dildo I was putting the cock ring on, I'm not sure he'd be willing to star for a massge oil video either..I saw one of those for the jimmyjane I stone..I can't remember whose video it was, but it was pretty cool!

Also... it is hard for me to get the right "moment" for mine sometimes as well. For instance, the lawnmower running outside. And usually, just when I get everything set up perfect how I want it, my little man wakes up from his nap. :| Ah, the joys of getting it done!

Even though it is voluntary to an extent, I still feel like it is my duty to get my reviews done on time and I become frustrated very easily when I can't get in the right mood to do them. Sometimes it takes me a while, between homework and taking care of my son and what not. He is usually at day care right now, but he got his flu shot and hasn't felt good so I kept him home today.

LOL you guys could always bribe them or something... I am thinking of recruiting a friend of mine to help me with my EF endeavors... FWB FTW! If I can get him to participate I can review a broader range of toys, and I can add a male perspective as well!

I am having problems as of last night with my Windows Movie Maker. for some strange reason it won't let me import my .mov movies anymore.

Anyone ever have this problem? I didn't change anything about how I record or upload them. I even reinstalled the program...

You did a great job with the video! And you were worried. You're a natural.

Not to mention I think I may have to look into getting myself a Wahl.

I haven't had that problem, mine lay in my webcam. I think I will be upgrading, since I am using it a lot more now. It sucks... quality is really bad on my videos unless I have the exact perfect light, and barely move. Have you searched the FAQ on the site maybe? That's strange that it just stopped doing that. Maybe try converting them to .mkv or something?

You'll love it. My Man moans louder when I massage his back with the Wahl than when we have sex.

I KNOW he likes the sex better, but you know.

Anyway, he loves it almost as much as I do.

We saw a Wahl at Frys (it's a big electronic store) and we both spotted it and started laughing at the same time. How mature.

Thank you, Kindred. I'm glad you liked it. I'm one of those odd people who has a LOT of fears, but no fear of Public Speaking. My Man says "You love to hear yourself talk." I don't really, but I do love to TALK.

Windows has never let me upload .mov files before. You have to find a program that can convert them to a .wmv .
