Hosting Images on the Product Pages---big margins?

Contributor: Antipova Antipova
Hey everybody---

Usually for pictures in my reviews, I've been using imgur.com to host my images.

Once I noticed that we're able to put up product pictures on the product pages (see the ones I put up of the Tantus VIP here: link toward the bottom of the page, above 'compared items') I figured it would be easy to host the images on Eden, and link them to the reviews from there. That way, they'll never be deleted by image hosting sites once the reviews are too old to edit them.

I usually shrink down my photos to about a 4" width so they're not too big for the review format. So I did that with my set of photos for the VIP, and went to put them in my review.

But I see that, as they were uploaded, they were resized to include a large margin. That kind of makes the review unreadable, I think.

So, does somebody know a workaround for this? Should I just keep using imgur.com? Were the 'upload a photo' slots not actually meant to be used for reviews? I'm looking forward to feedback!

Right now, if I want to have two pictures in-line next to each other, instead I get this:

Has anybody got any insight? I want to publish my review, but I don't want it to be all ugly and staggered...

I use Flickr, and put my settings on "restricted." With a restricted rating, my images are not on the public tumbler and I no longer get complaints that my images are "inappropriate" from more prudish members of Flickr.

I thought of using Eden's product page, and have uploaded images for the product page. But, as it is difficult to properly size the images for reviews, I paid for a year of advanced unlimited images on Flickr and am pleased with this service.

I don't use any of the popular hosting sites, I set up a livejournal account and post pictures as private entries. I know they'll never disappear unless I delete the account or LJ goes under.

I use photo bucket. Only because flickr gave me a hard time. I kept getting just a link. I swear I was doing it right, but went to photo bucket works every time.

I have used the product pages also. That works out nicely.

Check out tumblr? I know there's a LOT of adult stuff on there.

I'm really pretty content with imgur---I just wanted to see if it was possible to use the 'uploaded photos' to the product pages without those huge margins.

Til that gets sorted out, I'll stick with imgur. Thanks everybody!

With my images hosted on imgur, when I do the same thing code-wise (just the image links directly next to each other separated only by a space) I get this:

Hrm. Which, in the standard page-width for reviews, is right next to each other. Apparently the fixed-width of the forums is narrower than the standard width of a review.
