How long does it take you to write a review?

Contributor: Howells Howells
On average, or maybe how was the fastest, or when it took really long to get one done, how long was that?

I rather write something better and spend twice as much time with it than just to drop something out in the public. My first review took around 2 hours about a durex condom, then the Mona one took around 5 hours or something like that. Yeah it's not really for the hourly rate 50 cents worh of points for a review would mean I'm working for 10 cents an hour. I don't think that people are reviewing solely for points. Once somebody decides to write a review they have the kindness to share the experience with others. And EF made a pretty huge advantage by making this possible. I found this site wanting to buy mona and I was amazed that this is basically the only well findable place that offers review on just about EVERYTHING! Cheers to reviewers who write detailed, well written articles!

I'm not starting a poll because it would be silly to list it like 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours.... And sorry if it has been asked before.

Usually an hour or less to actually write it. I Spend a lot of time thinking about what I want to write and even more time testing.

I spend a week or more testing, but when it comes to writing the actual review, a couple hours should be sufficient enough to make it thorough.

About an hour because I am usually interrupted a half dozen times.

It usually takes me all evening (between two and 5 hours) to write a review - I have a hard time putting my ideas into words, so I'll often write a while before wandering off to do something else for a few minutes and coming back to it later.

Usually over a couple of days. I need to break and come back to it later.

Depends on what the review is on. I've had some that I've written in under half an hour, but others take me way longer. The average is about an hour or so.

It takes me a couple of hours. I sometimes incorporate pictures in my review, so that takes additional time. Taking the photos, uploading them to my computer, uploading them to my photo site, then placing them into the proper place in my review.

I think about what I'm going to write for a while, then sit down and write the whole thing at once. (If I try to write over time, I start compulsively editing and it takes me a long time to finish.) I also go back and re-edit after it has been live, because I ALWAYS find something I want to change or an error or something else to add.

I don't think I've ever done more than one review in a day, due to exhaustion.

Testing: anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
Thinking about the concepts: on and off a few hours between the testing days.
Writing: 2-3 hours, I make sure I proofread at least twice before submitting to editor.

Hopefully as I get used to writing reviews the time it takes will decrease.

20 minutes..?

It takes me anywhere from 10 minutes to a couple hours. Depending on the product, whether I liked it or not and how much I have to say about it determines how long it will take me to review it. If I hate a toy it usually takes me less time to review it because I have trouble finding usefull things to say about it and I'm pretty sure, "I hate this toy" wouldn't make a good review.

I can write a review for a good toy very quickly. I have a harder time with bad toys, since I usually lose interest in something once I figure out I don't like it. It is harder to get motivated to write the review, and it is harder to be descriptive beyond "I hate this." So reviews for bad toys usually take me a couple of hours, plus a few weeks of procrastinating before I sit down to do it.

An hour is probably average- shorter if I loved it and the review comes easily, longer if I didn't like it at all.

The first review I did only took me about an hour or so, I believe. It definitely wouldn't have been under but it may have been over. The second one took me a few hours but that's mostly because I kept getting interrupted.

More than a few hours, generally over one or two days, not including the testing period. I write a first draft, then do another round of testing to make sure I've covered everything. Then I choose my favorite pictures, crop and arrange them, and put together the entire review. Then I read it over a few more times to make sure it flows well and to get rid of whatever errors I can find.

It takes me a long while. Maybe 4 hours total to finish completely.
