Reviewing Products Not on Eden-Eden Blogs?

Contributor: ~LaUr3n~ ~LaUr3n~
I now have a lot of toys not on eden and I have found a place to put those random reviews but it got me thinking...

Some of the toys I have have been reviewing are awesome and I want to be able to share them with the community-more so than just adding them to the "Eden Should Have This List". Some of them, I really wish were on eden.

It would be cool if we could have a personal product blog on eden that would allow us to upload our own pics of the products and review them and then the community could vote on the desirability of the said product. These reviews wouldn't count towards our rating unless the product was then added to eden.

Idk...just a thought. Would you be interested in participating or reading blogs like this to vote and try to get new products on eden that you want?

This feels super pushy to me. EF already has a huge inventory and, often, if we don't stock an item it's because we cannot get it or are not interested or do not work with a particular company.

Personal blogs on site would be a huge tech hassle, would have to be too closely monitored and would wind up being a lot of dead space that people didn't keep up with.

Can you explain your use of the word pushy?

All of the products I had in mind that in wish I could share with the community are from companies already on eden. Like different lubes from Intimate organics, and the smallest g-rider from Nexus, or the Pleasure pillow case from Sportsheets etc. I have a huge list.

I understand the tech hassle though. I was trying to think of a way to be able to do it. Perhaps a separate forum section would have been a better suggestion.

I have people ask me often, especially new comers and students how they can review products not on eden currently. This also got me wondering about this whole thing. But it was just a wonder.

It's a good idea - it is, but I see it turning into a giant mess. For one, if it did work out and some items are "accepted", EF may end up dealing with distributors for just one item out of their entire stock which is more of a hassle than it's worth, if I had to guess.

Two, like previously mentioned, the tech work would be a pain in the butt.

While it's a neat idea, the EF "want" thread is usually where all of this happens. If somebody requests something that somebody else wants, usually there's an added post that mentions their agreement. This allows EF to decide if they think it's worth it or not.

As for reviewing products EF doesn't carry, recommending their own blog would be nice. While it'd be cool if EF could carry every product in existence, it's not their job to carry them just so people can review them. (Not being mean - just sayin'. I've come across the same thing where I wanted to write a review over things that weren't carried. In fact, half the time, it was stuff that I bought from EF in the first place that has been discontinued.)

I think the current system works pretty well. We can suggest what we want, they can take it to heart or not, and then a couple "test" items are sent out for review to figure out if the product is high-enough quality to carry. If they choose not to carry what someone wants to buy, then the person really should just purchase it elsewhere.

I agree - it's a neat system, but at the same time, allowing people to vote on whether EF carries something or not may lead to coagulation of the entire item system because of over-abundance of items just because some people said they wanted EF to carry it even though they have no intention of buying it.

I think I explained that okay. I'm honestly not sure. Again, wasn't meant to be attacking or anything - I just think that allow people to personally choose what items go onto EF would cause more hassle then help.

I think a personal blog would be the exact place you're thinking about. You can upload your own pics/video/audio/etc. Heck, Penguin could do stuff there too .

Yea, complicated.

Don't we already kind of help at least with the strawberry voting and that thread?

But no no, you weren't attacking at all. I don't want some of these products just to review. I want to be able to suggest them to people here when people ask me for product suggestions and not direct them to other sites. I hate saying "Well there is this great product, but eden doesn't have it..."

I also have never seen one of my product suggestions in the forum actually appear. So maybe I'm just unlucky in my suggestions lol.

It was just an idea. Not all good ideas are able to be done like you said. Oh well.

The warehouse is only so big! Heh. No one can stock every item the manufacturers carry. So suggesting it not only on the suggestion thread but elsewhere to feels... pushy. Lol. I can't explain it any better than that.

Kind of like if I emailed you about something, then also wrote about it in my blog and sent you a message. You'd be like... dude, I heard you the first time!

I think the ideal suggestion has already been acted on. Personal blogs. You can link to yours from your profile and post reviews that link directly to the manufacturer. In this way, you can share your joy over a product easily and even put the link in the "suggestions" thread, keeping things uncluttered.

We've all purchased products EF doesn't carry. No one store carries everything. They simply can't. I think putting excess product info on EF makes it seem cluttered and disorganized and doesn't help our consumer at all -- since it simply shows them something they can't purchase here.

No no. I already have a place to put the reviews NOT on eden (Lifeon the Swingset). The point was to share them with eden so that maybe eden would want to sell the product if the review generated enough interest. And this would only be for GOOD products. Like I wouldn't want to share a review of a bad product because I wouldn't want that on eden. Make sense?

I get cha. Redundant if we have both still. Your idea of posting the link with the suggestion in the thread makes total sense except I have a pen name for anonymity. So, I guess that is the end of this idea lol. I'll keep that idea in mind though.

Thinking about what you said...why do we keep products that have like 10+ reviews of 1 star? It seems a waste to have these products still available. Or do you keep them til they sell out? I usually see this on male sleeves mostly.

I'd like this. I don't personally have much to add myself, but some of the new items don't seem to reflect what the community as a whole wants. I think this would help.
