When reviewing a porn with a plot, do you use the character’s or the actor’s name?

Contributor: namelesschaos namelesschaos
That is my question when reviewing porn that has a significant plot (where the characters actually have names), do you use the character’s name as stated in the storyline, or do you use the performer's name when writing the review? I’ve seen different styles used in reviews so I wanted to put it to a poll.

It really depends on the movie; if the character names are easy to remember, then I use those, but most of the time I don't pay attention to names so I just backtrack and use the actor. I rarely use descriptors like "the main character" because there are often more than one main character.

I will mention the character name but refer to the actor/actress just because it is easier for people to remember. I know personally I rarely remember character names after I watch a movie so I assume many are like me.

I need an option for being inconsistent about that.

I guess that's 'depends on the movie/review.' But I'm not sure I'm consistent within one review.

I'll try to mention the names of performers who have main roles in a film. Sometimes I like to use nicknames like "the villain" especially if those acting parts are smaller. If I feel like the review comes across better when talking about the movie's characters (like for character motivations, themes, etc.), I'll use the character names. I should probably try to be more consistent so that people reading my reviews don't get confused and think there are twice as many people in a movie than there really are. >.<

While I often just use the actors name in brackets, I've started use both - the characters name with the porn stars name in brackets, so people know who I'm referring to/who plays who in the film.

If I'm discussing the plot, I use the character name and write the actor name in parenthesis afterwards. If I'm talking about the actor, such as their performance, then I use their actual name.

I use both, like this - character name (actors name) or I will flip them around. I figure as long as you establish this at least once in the beginning, it is fine to use the character name afterward.

In many of the movies I have seen lately, the actors names are the same as the characters names.

In the movies that I have reviewed recently, many of the characters just use the actors first name. For example I just watched a movie starring Stoya. In the movie her characters name was Stoya. Scott Nails played Scott and Sasha Grey played Sasha.

I guess it doesn't really matter what the character's names are in the movie. It seems like they are more concerned with gaining their own personal name recognition. This way it helps avoid confusing the viewers...and the actors as well.

As said above... when talking about the plot of the movie movie and the scenes I'd use the characters names but when talking about the heat of the scene and about the actual sex... I'd use the performer's name.

I say the character names, but put their real name in parenthesis the first time I refer to them.

I put the casts real names before the review of the scenes the are in.

Example: (not a real scene)

April, Amy, and Tim - [Review of the scene here.]
