I'd like to improve myself, but I'm already an advanced reviewer.

I have a few questions:

I'm already an advanced reviewer, I know there are incentives for mentors who take on students who aren't already advanced, so would I be an imposition if I requested to be a student?

I don't have a ton of free time, I write maybe 2-3 reviews a month, maybe more if I'm lucky, so how long can I remain in the program without inconveniencing my mentor?

Will the program negatively effect me in any way?

Since the two areas I'm most interested in guidance in are lingerie and books, should I wait until I have two products that fall into those categories to review to make the process quicker? Are there any mentors that specialize in or feel comfortable teaching both?

I don't have a ... more
1. You are free to request a mentor and if they don't care to take on an Advanced reviewer they will simply decline. The only drawback is that we are limited to accepting 5 (I think, I always forget) students in a 30 day period.

2. The speed at which you work is totally up to you. However, take into consideration that assignments still have the 3 week deadline and that some mentors expect to move at a fast pace. Personally, I work at my student's pace. There is no inconvenience for taking longer to write your reviews.

3. Joining the Mentor program as an Advanced Reviewer does not impact you negatively in any way.

4. I would suggest looking through the mentor list for those that have done lingerie and book reviews. My personal opinion is that a mentor should be able to help you write a good review even if it something he/she has never used before. To me, compatibility between the mentor and student is much more important. Be sure you each have the same expectations in the relationship.

Good luck!

Another question while I'm thinking about it:

Would it be acceptable to ask a mentor or two for suggestions on previous reviews that I can use in future reviews without actually joining the program and taking up a spot that someone else could use more than me?

I think it would be perfectly acceptable. I'm also a mentor that doesn't mind students working at a slower pace, so if you wanted, I could open up a spot in my class for you to give you a more one on one back and forth with lingerie and/or books, or I'm more than happy to try and go through your already done reviews and give pointers where I can. Just shoot me a message if you're interested

I think that's totally acceptable. I've worked with other advanced reviewers out of the program. They simply emailed me their review and I sent it back with comments. Just ask the mentor first if they are willing to work that way.

Was going to offer the same as Sam. If you would like I only have two current students. I have plenty of free time to help you out. Send me a request if you would like. I do not mind going over older reviews or you working slow.

Just wanna say that you guys who will take on an advanced reviewer - ROCK!

Thanks so much. Now that I'm not working with a mentor, I'm finding it hard to work on my reviews!

Kindred and Sam and Beck did a good job addressing your questions so far. I just wanted to chime in too, saying---most mentors are happy to work with you---just ask! I'm another that goes at the student's pace. Sure, I'm here every day, but there's no need for a student to rush And as far as asking others to look over old reviews---that's totally fine and welcome too!

You might also consider doing a mentorship for books, and then another for lingerie (or vise versa). I'm trying to learn the ropes of lingerie myself right now, and I just had a nice mentorship with Lauren to help with that (and Sam's awesome with lingerie too). I feel that, after a few stumbling first attempts, I got a reasonable handle on book reviews. I wish I had thought to take a mentorship with those, too, though!

Cool, thank you everyone! I had someone offer me in messages to mentor me on books, so I'll take that offer, then do a second one for lingerie. And I'd appreciate it if anyone wants to look over my old reviews and send me a message.

I hit up Sam recently for mentoring on lingerie. She is awesome! Very nice!
