Students, please keep in mind...

that your mentors are, usually, busy people. Further, that life sometimes gets in the way.

I've had a busy, and really hard, past few weeks, and I've had a few students message me stating I'm ignoring them. Mind you, I informed all of my students that I've been feeling very depressed, and dealing with a lot, and that it's taking me longer than usual to be responsive.

A few students cancelled the class -- which though disappointing, is fine and understandable. Those aren't the ones that I'm talking about, though. I'm referring to individuals who felt the need to send me harsh messages, nearly yelling at me, for the fact that it's taken a few days for me to respond to a message.

If you are a current student of mine, please know that I'm not trying to ignore you. I'm generally very prompt about replying to my students; usually getting back to them the same day they send a message..but lately? It's been taking a few days. My apologies for that, but I'm working on it.

To everyone else...just please remember that life sometimes happens, and that your mentors are humans and sometimes can't be as prompt as they might like to be.

I think it's really important to know that life really does get in the way sometimes! I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been treated right! Nobody deserves to be yelled at for taking a couple of days to respond to a message/review/whateve r.

Also, I hope that you start to feel better soon. Depression and all the yuckiness surrounding those feelings are really awful!

Sorry you're having a hard time. I deal with depression everyday, sometimes it hard for me to get out of bed. Eden keeps me going sometimes, lol isn't that sad? Anyway, I know life can really suck sometimes. I'm glad you're letting everyone know and no one should yell at you for taking a break. Take care!

You have my hugs and sympathies!! Sometimes the students do not realize that a mentor is NOT an employee of Eden, just other members who volunteer to help. This might need to be re-itterrated to you students you are having issues with. Let them know again- that you respond to all messages within 48 hours, that you are having a difficult time right now and appreciate their understanding. Maybe that will make them realize this is not all about them, but about us as a community.

I'm sorry people have been upset. In a world where instant gratification is second-hand to a lot of us, I can see both sides of the coin.

All of my mentors have said they will respond to me within 4-5 days. Maybe try this approach for future students?

If schedules aren't matching up, drop the class and send an explanatory message. Don't take it personally
