#EdenTasks - Upcoming Editor Rotation - October 2012

Contributor: Sammi Sammi
Hi all,

The EdenTasks rotation will be occurring shortly. If you’re currently an editor, you received an email earlier in the week letting you know that your rotation is ending, and you’ll receive a decline email once you are rotated out. If you’ve submitted an application and editing test for this round and are declined, you can reapply after the rotation has been completed. Once the rotation occurs, new editors will receive notification that they’ve been accepted into the program, and also an email from me with helpful information.

For all new editors - I primarily use email to communicate with you, so if you don't have a current or correct email address on file, please let me know as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post on this thread, check the FAQ, or contact me at sammi@edenfantasys.com .

Thanks!

Is it time for us to email that we would like to be be Editors?

The editor rotation is now complete.

To the previous editors, thank you for all your hard work during the last rotation!

To the new editors, welcome! I'll be sending you an email with links to information that you will find helpful, as well as other information on the EdenTasks program. Please don't hesitate to email me at sammi@edenfantasys.com if you have any questions.

Anyone who wants to apply for the next round can submit an application at any time before the next rotation begins. Please make sure that your email is up to date, and check your email. You'll receive a confirmation of your submission and the editing test for the next round at the email address you have on file within a week of submitting your application. Also, please remember that applications will remain on file until the next rotation (you won't be accepted or declined until then).

Thanks!

The application request is actually in your account dashboard, so you don't need to email anything yet - just submit the application from there

If I was declined how do I find out what I need to improve on for the next rotation?

My best advice would be to take your time on the editing test and do the best you can on it.

So, if you're an editor for a 3-month rotation, you cannot, under any circumstances, become an editor for the next rotation, correct?

I'm not sure....I was in the first rotation and have been declined ever since. I am thinking they are trying to give everyone a chance and if you have been an editor before, they hold off accepting you until the first timers get an opportunity. Just a theory, though......

I LOVED being an editor, and will for sure re-apply a few months from now for the spring rotation. It was so much fun, and I can't complain about the points I racked up!

As a new editor I have certainly gained an appreciation for the work editors do her at EF.

I plan applying again.

I wish there was a way for us to more accurately rate edited reviews as good, poor, or excellent. Some are fine but have many spelling errors, etc. It'd be nice if we could pinpoint what we see wrong... or right, for that matter. *shrugs*

That's correct - all editors will be rotated out, and no one can be an editor for 2 consecutive rotations.

The selection process has changed a bit, and some previous editors are in the current rotation (before this rotation, that was true - only new editors were selected).

If you run across reviews with errors, please shoot me a message or email with a link to the review

I'm a new editor and I'm kind of amazed at how much work is involved in doing it. I had no idea how many people write their reviews in a way that is almost completely incomprehensible! It's a fun challenge to edit them, though.

I would really love to be an editor but am just waiting for my latest review to be published so that I reach a 5.1 ranking! (I think I've been refreshing every 15 minutes to check...)

I'm relatively new to the community, but think that I could be a good editor (I've done editing professionally), and I would love the opportunity to be more involved with Eden.

I was amazed at that too! My first one was in all caps, and let's not even talk about the grammar.

So when will the next rotation be? Three months from now would be the beginning of... February/end of January?

I was just a little too late for this one ( I actually thought I had applied, but I guess it didn't go through/I'm crazy! ) so I want to make sure to be on time for the next one.

I got accepted this time! I am very excited. It is more time-consuming than I had expected, but the points are generous. I hadn't paid attention to the points aspect of it before applying. I was just interested in the experience. Now I'm pretty psyched about the points too!

thank you eden and thank you Sammi!

Yes - the next rotation will be right around then, and you can apply any time before then.

It is so hard because I know, personally, I have edited in the past and go back and see a slew of errors that I know were not there before. Sometimes the reviewer will go back (after publishing) and add or change something and blammo, all that hard work is gone.

This is a suggestion for all current review editors. Please sample a few sentences and search for it in Google to check for plagiarism before you publish. It only takes a few seconds and you can save EF a lot of time and grief. I usually select the first few sentences of 2-3 paragraphs and have Google search for it. Google is very good at finding plagiarism. Thanks!

Mhmm, I now do this regularly. Thanks for the tip, I was naive before <.< I still can't believe someone would plagiarize, but I found out it does happen.

I am also new and I agree. I'm shocked at how some people write their review! I know I am far from perfect but I do write complete sentences!! But, I am loving it!!!
