I still don't understand, though, why getting as many points as you can is encouraged at some times, but discouraged at other times. Can you explain that, please?

What they are saying is just slow down span them out over the time your on the site. If you are doing them within seconds of each other that is point farming. Among other things.

Points are a reward. Some folks, however were actively doing things over and over and over everyday and making upwards of 600 points a day, every day. They were also using multiple accounts to do so, and effectively stealing from Eden.


If 100 people out of the whole community did that everyday, that's 6000 dollars a month worth of points... and while I don't know the exact numbers I'm sure there were more than that snatching points however they could everyday.


So, they give us double points days once every 14th blue moon for fun. I've never once seen someone saying we should grab every point possible everyday. They occasionally reward the faithful with bonuses, as well as those that go above and beyond in the community. The point cuts eradicated a lot of a cancer that was dragging the community into the dust, and at points things were downright brutal in the forums.

I see the double points day as a sort of "hey, thanks for sticking with us!"

I think it's a nice thing to help relieve some of the stress and reward us for being mature about it and sticking with them along the changes. It's greatly appreciated!

I agree with PropertyOfPotter. I love Eden but I had not been able to log in for a while and when I came back the changes had been made. I completely understood why.

It is because of the point system that I am able to order more items, because then it is not so much of a budget crunch to spoil myself! You guys rule! I wish I could make a career out of reviewing and editing but then I would be wasting my hard earned bachelor's degree in Elementary Ed.

...this is going to make it hard to stick to my new goal of under 25 points or so a day (made about 200-250 or so a day before the recent changes, kind of figured that was about average though, given I tend to spend a few hours on here a day.) then. Trying to avoid doing much of anything that earns points these days so I don't wind up getting my account locked again.

I suppose I could just make it a point to skip EF on the 15th though.
To be honest, I kind of cringed when I saw the message about it. I don't know what I would have done if my account stayed locked, I certainly would have missed reviewing and hanging out in the forums a lot. ='(

It's going to be on the 15th though, so you wouldn't notice it yet.
