I don't see anything in the contributor ranking breakdown page about videos. Is there a plan to incorporate that into the ranking score? And does adding a video to a published review improve one's ranking?

Just curious.

Nope, videos do not effect the rank at all. It would be unfair to those unable to do videos if they did. As of right now, rank is based on basically fair measurements; things anyone can do. Adding videos would skew it too much in favor of the few of thousands who are able to add video.

Your rank can be boosted, however, by folks seeing the video on the reviews page and voting or commenting on it when they may not have the first time around.

Other than that, the only benefit to the contributor for adding a video review is the gift card payment.

I can't do videos either. But if you think about it, once a toy has a video then no one else can do that one anyway. So I'm glad to hear that the videos themselves don't affect rank.

In essence it does help improve the ranking because it makes the review more useful sometimes, but just the act of adding one does nothing.

If you aren't in the review program, but submit reviews for products you have already reviewed, do you still get gift cards?

I'm confused by your question. You need to talk to Carrie Ann before you do a video review of any type. You have to be accepted into the video review program and will not get giftcards otherwise. You cannot upload a video without talking to her anyways.

But what do you mean by already reviewed? Like add video to old text reviews? If you are in the program, yes you can do this and get giftcards.

I actually really like this policy. I never saw this thread (or comment) but I'm really glad that EF doesn't favor anyone based on their financial ability to access technology and such. Big thumbs up

Exactly. Damn I said something really good in a similar thread but can't find it at the moment.

We can't expect everyone to do it, so that's why they are required to have text also. I base my vote off the text and then if the video is awesome, I add usefulness but not usually. I never down someone for not having one. That wouldn't be fair. I don't think that the video program has impacted my score at all.

I did talk to Carrie Ann before I started, you need to get an intro video from her. You can upload 1 video per product. If you are in the "Video Review," Program you get an additional product to review every month. People who don't meet that rank can still upload videos if approved, but I am just unclear if they get giftcards..I

From The Guidelines

"Each type of video review is rewarded with a gift card if all requirements are met; Video Review Program videos receive a gift card based upon the price of the product while regular video reviews added to already written text reviews receive a straight $25 gift card."
