How long does it take you to do a video for Eden? This is for one video.

Contributor: P'Gell P'Gell
I am wondering how long most videos take for Eden contributors to do.

This includes prep work, setting up, recording and re-recording, putting together the video, choosing and ripping the music (if any) editing and final run over?

Do you let it sit overnight to review, or do you upload it as soon as you are happy with it

I'm a perfectionist (although the videos don't always look like it, because I am not good at working the "edit" function of my Movie Maker) so I do and re-do, almost obsessively.

I know people with more experience with technology will probably take less time with the tech issues with the video, while those of us with less experience may take a little longer. But, the tech stuff I think, usually is about only 10% of the time, at least for my videos. (Unless I have to edit and get lost, like I did yesterday.) It also takes me less time if I have been doing more videos in the past week or so and am used to what I am doing.

I wait and show it to someone I trust before uploading. So, I have to wait for him/her to get to see it (Who? And do you ever re-do things because of what their comment on the video was?)

It varies a lot. Please explain.

Forgot to check the "I upload it as soon as I am finished". I spend more time editing that recording. Mine always end up four or five min. long, so I have to shorten them down. I don't really worry about them being perfect, cuz thats just not me. As long as I get the info about the toy in there the rest is all good. Plus I get some of my personality in there.

I have only had one that I waited for the next day, that was my Halloween video. That one took the longest to film, edit and adding music. I think that one was like five hours all in.

It depends on the video. There are some I get right in the first shot (no 'ummmmm...' til I shut off the camera or swearing at myself for tripping up) and then I just edit everything together add titles, and upload. There are others I've done easily 15-20 versions of and then edit three times as long anyway. It can depend on the lighting, how the camera is behaving that day, how noisy the toy is, how much I hate my voice that particular day... I'd say on average an hour but there are a few that have taken MUCH longer.

I'm the same way, some come out great right away, some just don't seem to work right.

It usually takes less than an hour for me to get everything done, I know I've done a few videos in an hour before. I usually upload the finished product right away.

It used to take me a long time and multiple takes, but now I often am happy with the first take. Editing is usually quick unless I'm piecing together clips from multiple takes. I do like to let them marinate overnight and review them again before uploading them, just like with reviews.

Tori Rebel, you can edit out the 'um's. I do. Its a pet peeve of mine that others leave them in. Who wants to hear that? Videos are far more authoritative and convincing without pauses and ums.

I usually get it in the first take, and then I watch it once, and upload it as long as it looks good. If I'm not happy with it, I just re-shoot, though I don't do that often.

I vary from 1-3 hours depending on the product and the interruptions I have. My partner sees all the vids i do but usually not before I upload them.

I am one of those techies (getting there anyways) that can just slap a video together in 5, maybe 10 mins flat.

So it takes me usually around 5 mins to record, 5 or 10 mins to edit (depending on what I feel like doing with it), and 10 mins tops to have it uploaded.

A lot of the time I will have to do it in chunks though, because I can't even sit down for the 20 mins or so to do it all when my son is up. (obviously not going to make a video on vibrators in front of a toddler).

If I have it recorded and I am already happy with the resulting video, I can slap it together and upload it, as long as I can keep him from toddling over to my computer and pushing all the buttons, resulting in a video labeled : fhcePIWLMKW S-= {)

It takes the me about 30 minutes depending on how many times I redo the whole video, put it in the right format then upload it. It doesn't take much time at all. I don't play around with extra stuff that others add. I'm not patient enough to do that and quite frankly I don't have much time to devote to making a video but when I do I enjoy doing it and I am pretty happy with the simplicity of it.

I totally agree about the ums. They are such a pet peeve for me too. I just stop watching the video when I hear more than 3 in one minute. It makes the video really bad.

On average, it takes about 1.5-2 hours per video- filming, editing, and uploading. It used to take us a lot longer, but we've gotten it down to a science now that we've done quite a few. Of course, there are times when a video will take a lot longer, like the "What What" video we just did for the L'Amour Probes, but we usually balance it out with a couple of easier videos afterward.

I did try that on one, but it just looked iffy to me after that because it would go from the toy being held up high to down low or something like that...plus, once I start 'ummm'-ing, it usually leads to me cursing at myself and that would be a lot to edit out

I wish I had better tech skills. I still can't edit in the middle of a video properly. I have no idea what I am doing wrong.

Yeah, doing anything with a toddler gets taken down into small pieces, even going to the bathroom. A 3 foot tall person with a 12 ft reach!

I just did one in under an hour. I had no interruptions and only needed one take. My issues usually come from my pesky camera. It's behaving today

My MS/Pro card will not properly work in our computer, for reasons unknown. Last week I had to find the right cord to attach the camera directly to the computer. Now, my videos are stored in 3 minute intervals, rather than the entire thing.

Although, it actually helped yesterday, as the first cut was over nine minutes long, which is way too long. It was easier to edit and cut things out with all the small videos, rather than one long one.

I am not a very tech minded person. I get flustered when the least thing goes wrong with our technology. I still can't edit the middle of a video clip. I'm doing something wrong, evidently.

It usually takes me between one and two hours to do the video (it almost never is a one-take deal, I re-do them a lot) and then add the cover, compress and upload.

It depends on the type of video I'm making. For a simple straightforward video review, I would say maybe around 2-3 hours. I first write out my script, then run through it will recording which may take several times because I often edit my script as I go. Then I have to download the video and edit it and add in all the little things.

My Cobra Libre review took a lot longer because I shot different set ups with different angles. I also had to shoot all the mini clips that I used at the end and had to edit the length of time for each clip so that it flowed smoothly.

My Katsuni video review also took longer than usual because I had to do her makeup
