Video Volume?

Contributor: lexical lexical
Arrrrgh! I'm so frustrated! The volume on my videos seems so quiet. I have terrible speakers on my laptop, so I want to check and see if everyone can hear me. Maybe it's just me. I already feel like I'm shouting into my webcam and I can't figure out how to make the volume any louder before or after shooting! The volume level is already up as high as it will go in Windows Movie Maker.

Here are my first two video reviews: Jopen Vanity VR4.5 and Nob Essence Fling

Any general feedback is also much appreciated. I'm totally new to video reviewing and I'm so nervous being in front of the camera~! Ahhh!

I can hear you, but it is really, really quiet. The way I do my videos is not with a webcam but with my phone. I find that phones these days have pretty good quality (webcams are still questionable). If you have a smart phone, I would recommend just recording yourself with your phone and then transferring it onto your computer.

nanamondoute, do the videos transfer easily to the computer? Do you have any trouble with having to convert the files to a different type or anything like that?

I connect my phone to my computer via the phone to USB connection, so it transfers pretty easily (it's just like copying something off a USB key). I convert with an online converter: link

I convert to WMV then edit in Windows Live Movie Maker and then upload it. Doesn't take too much time for that.

I can hear you too, but I think your voice in general is soft? Right?

I use my digital camera to record my videos. Though, I know I have a voice that carries. My camera plugs into the computer using USB and they upload right away. Then I convert them with Windows Movie maker. I make them WMV's to upload.

I think your first two are great.

I can hear you, it is a little quiet but not a problem. I like the video, you did a really good job of making the video separate and including different content from whats in your written review.

Thank you for the feedback, everyone! I'm really glad you guys can hear me. I'm going to try doing it with my camera, because I'm missing my USB cord for my phone, which is driving me crazy. I really need to upload the TONS of photos I have on there, lol!

I can't view your videos with the device I'm on, but another potential option is to record the voice separately. This would of course only work if you don't show your face. I've done it before when I've had to film from far away and the sound doesn't pick up as well. I just use my camera to record it as a video and convert the file to an MP3.
