Chicken seeking upgrade. I repeat: chicken seeking upgrade.

Hello!

I am new to the world of sex toys, but I think I also offer a valuable perspective. As a college student who why nervous and shy about sex toys (i.e., a paranoid chicken), I pay special attention to how discreet a toy is in its size, appearance, and noise level. Although they might not make up the majority of users, I think there are people whose points of focus are similar to mine.

I just submitted my upgrade request and I hope to receive the community's approval.

Thank you!

Good luck! I think people who are shy may actually be a large amount of users. Many of them probably don't post in the forums.

That's a really good point. I always see a lot of people talking about their partners, all their many experiences, and confidence in ordering and using toys. I never take into consideration the number of people lurking, but I'm sure that they're there.

I made like 2-3 threads just about ordering from here and what the packaging would look like.

I am not eligible to vote for you because I'm not an advanced reviewer yet, but I will say that after reading your reviews, I would encourage you to get a mentor and go through the program because it will help you do better reviews using the long format - which will over time help your rating go up and help you get more expensive toys.

It isn't that your reviews aren't good - they are - but they are very basic and most folks like the longer review format.

Either way - welcome to the forum and the site.

Hi, TexasMama! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I read your post, as well as your comment on my review.

Personally, I find the information regarding things like material and batteries on the main page to be sufficient enough, but you raise a good point - and someone else mentioned something similar in another review. I also see these things mention in lots of reviews, so it's becoming evident that these are important factors to have. In future reviews, I'll touch upon those other aspects of the review; I can see in this instance why the extended format would be very useful.

I'm sorry about that!

I'm looking to upgrade from a contributor to an advanced contributor.

There are two ways to become an "advanced reviewer" here on EF. One is to go through the mentoring program and do two (or sometimes more) reviews with a mentor and once they graduate you - you are an advanced reviewer. They get a $25 gift card for helping you and you get the help and advice of a mentor who knows what the community tends to expect from reviews. From everything I've been told, it helps your ratings in the long run because you tend to get higher ratings on your reviews from the beginning. Many mentors require their students to use the advanced review form so they learn what needs to be in a good review.

The second way is to write a couple of reviews and then come to this section and put in an upgrade request. Advanced reviewers will then go and look at your reviews and vote on whether or not to allow you to advance. It takes a minimum of 5 votes in 2 weeks.

Since I am not an advanced reviewer yet (I chose to go the mentor route and then asked them to hold me for extra reviews for my own benefit even though I was ready to graduate sooner) - I don't see yet where the place is for folks to do the actual voting.

Hi, TexasMama.

Voting is done on the Community News page (called the "community corner" on the front page).

You're welcome. Personally, I think the mentor program rocks and teaches people what the community really wants to see in reviews. I wish EF would remove the "vote for upgrade" option because going through the mentor program is just that good. I think it teaches people to be better reviewers and to do a more thorough review with information like what the product is made of, battery size required, how to clean an item and care for it, what types of lube can be used and so much more.

But that's my opinion and opinions are like feet. We all have them - and some stink and should be kept out of sight/smell range!

However - I would encourage you that if you want to be an advanced reviewer and haven't already asked to be voted for upgrade - go the mentor route. If you don't have enough toys for the required two reviews - they can do a "push" review (I think that is what it is called) and request an item for you to review to be sent to you.

I agree, the program is fantastic. The only flaw to this would be the pressure on mentors, not to mention the lack of mentors. There are quite a few, yes, but if you notice the amount of upgrade requests not to mention current users seeking mentors, it would be overwhelming. I like the upgrade requests in the sense that it allows another option so you don't have to wait for possibly weeks to be accepted by a mentor as a student and then followed by having to still write your reviews and such. I do, however, wish that there was more of an emphasis on the program. I didn't even know about it until after I'd been advanced for a while. I found it when a friend of mine who I got on this site started poking around the forums (before I was even on here) and saw it!
