I dont know if it is proper to ask for an upgrade request! I was wondering what everyone looks for when voting someone who has asked for request. I am very new here and starting to improve my reviews. I am answering every question or at least trying. I also go to people's reviews that commented and rated my review. Any pointers would be great!!!

You just apply and people vote on you based on your current review.

It's not improper to ask for one. I'm new here too (2 months in counting) and I don't know what to do either. I understand how you feel.
