To get the lube on the toy, I've been just spearing it on the plug. But this gets a little messy and wasteful. Usually some drips onto the floor before I get the plug in.

Is there a better way?

You can use a lube shooter.
Fill up the syringe/shooter with your favorite lube. Insert into your bum and there you have it.
