Condoms on Anal Toys?

Contributor: noway noway
Do you use condoms on your anal toys, or just wash afterwards? I would probably use condoms with anything jelly, but what about silicone? I know it is sterilize-able, but should I still be covering toys with a condom, or does it not matter with silicone?

I generally use condoms just because I'm way too lazy to give toys the proper cleaning that they need after anal use.

I don't do any kind of anal play, but if I did I would absolutely use a condom. And if it were a porous toy, I would never use it for vaginal use if I'd used it anally without a condom. That is way icky. Too much bacteria spreadage for my comfort.

With silicone, it is not porous, so you can sterilize it. This is why people are okay with using a silicone toy anally & vaginally. To sterilize though, you'd need to use a bleach/water solution or boil it (which should not be done if the toy has a motor). If you're going to use a toy anally, it's really wise to just go ahead & get a non-porous material like silicone, glass, steel. Also, just because a toy's label says it's silicone, that does not mean it is 100% silicone. There are a few companies that are well known for using a silicone "blend" and not using pure 100% silicone. Or heck, if it's Cal Exotics, they'll straight up put "silicone" on a clearly jelly toy's package! You have to be careful. Be sure the manufacturer is reputable. For instance, if you buy a Tantus toy, you can rest assured it will be made of 100% pure silicone, no BS. Cheaper, non reputable companies aren't so trustworthy. After using/feeling of a real 100% silicone toy, you'll begin to know the difference just by touch/look whether or not it's really silicone.

Hope this was helpful. To answer your question in simpler words, no, basically, it does not matter if you use a silicone toy anally and vaginally provided you sterilize it between uses, before switching holes & provided the toy is truly silicone.

We do not use condoms on our anal toys. They are all glass, steel or silicone, so we just disinfect them.

I don't use them. Even if I did, I'd end up washing the toy anyway. Plus, for the amount anal play I do, buying condoms would get expensive real quick.

Everything I have is silicone so I can just sterilise it, no need for condoms.

If I am worried about cleaning up afterwards I will use a condom on an anal toy...likewise if I think I might want to use an anal toy vaginally I will use a condom. Generally, though, I use high quality materials and simply wash the toys after using them.
