Honestly? Wear the plug until time to play, pull it out, lube up and go. Probes are for thrusting really, and beads (while they feel amazing being put in) are meant for pulling out right at climax.

AmethystQueen, I'm standing by my original comment. Use a plug to loosen up.. if you go thrust happy with a probe or dildo trying to open things up you could cause yourself pain and problems in the future with anal play.
Start with a small plug, and work your way up!

Using a prob or a dildo can be a good way to loosen up for anal sex. Personally I'd recommend a probe over dildo because of their taper.

Go with a probe. I love plugs, but the neck of most plugs isn't big enough to warm you up and the neck is the part that stretches you out a little. A plug with a big enough neck to properly prepare you would be way too big to get in anyway. Go with a probe or a dildo with a flared base.
This is just my personal experience. Many times I tried putting in a butt plug in preparation for anal sex and while the initial part that goes in (bulb, buldge, head, whatever you want to call it)stretched me out for a second, it only passes through sphincter muscles briefly. That's just not long enough to prepare.
Of course, judging by the fact that a butt plug wasn't an option you gave us, I'm sure you already know this! Good luck!

I think plugs are the best for opening up to take something else, but a probe could work as a starter, if you need to work up to a larger toy.
