I am very curious about anal, but I have pretty bad IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and spend a lot of my time very constipated. Is this going to hinder my ability to participate in anal play?

I am seriously right there with you. It's hard having IBS and wanting to play anally. Mine is combination, so I'm at all ends of the spectrum.

What is it that you're worried most about?

My best suggestion is to pay attention to your body. While it doesn't seem as if anal play will do much to make IBS worse, you still should try gradually and monitor your symptoms. Personally, if I'm in the midst of serious IBS problems, I make sure to refrain from any activity. However, your body works in different ways. If you're at the point where you feel like you have to go but can't, I'd say not to engage in anything. If you feel fine, but haven't gone in a few days, then you might be okay with it.

I'd suggest reading the book Anal Pleasure & Health.

i have severe ibs while I don't do anal play..I have a glass toy and I use it to help clean out things that get stuck like mucus, residue and I have severe incomplete bowel movements it can grab onto matter and sometimes I can go easier after I do that..

Yep, me too. I use an enema several hours before engaging in anal play. I find it really helps with peace of mind that everything's all clean and ready. I relax better.

I have had IBS most of my life. I honestly have no problem with anal play or anal sex. I have a partner who understands when I say "My butt has the night off." then it isn't going to happen that evening or morning.

But, I have actually found anal play doesn't cause pain or increase constipation or any problem at all.

Even with IBS, stool shouldn't be stored in the rectum for very long, and it usually doesn't interfere with anal play, unless you are in actual pain. The stool isn't usually in the place where the play is taking place anyway. Most stool is behind the muscles that usually prevent things from going further without a lot of work. Simply stay shallow (say no more than 3 or 4 inches or a little more) and you shouldn't have too many problems.

But, always retain your right to say "Not tonight" or "Not this morning."

I have 8-10 bowel movements a day I barely leave the house. It's a nightmare. Sex isn't very good because of the symptoms. I dont do anal at all.

Are you aware that the Damiana leaves you've mentioned on a different thread is actually used to treat constipation, as in larger doses it is thought to have a mild laxative effect? I also have constipation problem quite often, but that was before I've started consuming Damiana leave capsules (400mg/day).

Here are my procedures to fix the problem:
-Take Damiana leave capsule before dinner
-Drink a large glass of juice one hour after dinner (I drink cranberry/blueberry 100% juice)
-Drink a full cup of VERY warm water when I'm almost ready to do my nightly rituals such as potty and shower, wait ten minutes and I'm ready to release whatever is inside completely, and am all clear for anal play! Sorry for being so graphic!

Try and see if it works for you and everyone else too! I've been totally constipation free nowadays.

I should really give you a big HUG for introducing me to Damiana!!!

Sometimes just the awareness of being constipated diminishes my interest in anal play -- but that's before I start taking Damiana pills.

I am a male. I suffer from frequent constipation punctuated with occasional diahria. I'm not sure you call this IBS, but I've been dealing with this since my early teens and have done anal play since my 20s. My experience has been that the constipation interferes with the anal play. I really don't think that anal play causes my problems to be any worse. I know it's not for everybody, but I deal with this by taking an enema on a regular basis, about once a week. As long as I do that, I don't have any problem. I have tried a number of different laxatives/ drugs, but find that they often make things worse.

Good luck dealing with your IBS. These symptoms have not stopes me from enjoying anal play. Don't let it stop you, it's just too good to miss out on.

Without going into detail, I can tell you from personal experience and that of others we know VERY well with IBS and or Crohns and Colitis, that anal sex does not worsen or help anything if done with care. Obviously if you have an anal fissure or infection in your bowl anywhere, the last thing to do is irritate it with additional activity, but beyond that, if you are in tune with your own body and stop if things hurt or feel "off" and use lots of lube, go slow...etc (all the usual safety advice),then anal is really pretty "superficial" (first few inches of anus, large intestine) and so should not have much effect if there is no specific problem in that area of the bowel.

Okay, I have to chime in here. If you are having 8-10 bowel movements a day and "can barely leave the house", something is VERY, VERY wrong and MOST TIMES IT CAN BE FIXED. I am NOT saying this is your case, but there are Crohns patients who have symptoms exactly as you describe and with appropriate medication can live COMPLETELY normal lives without the pain and constant "I have to GO" feeling.

There could be 1000 things causing this problem for you, but while most may be minor, some might be serious and either way, this is impacting your life.

PLEASE go to a gastroenterologist. PLEASE get checked by a specialist and if they don't or cannot help you, GO TO ANOTHER. No joke. You should NOT suffer this way.

You could have Ceiliac disease...really an allergy to gluten, you could have Crohns or Colitis, you could have a million things, but without medical attention, you will not know and it could get worse...much worse.

Please get checked!!!!

Best wishes....for a MUCH healthier New Year!!!!!

interesting!

I'm still weary because of my IBS, but I just made myself a fox tail butt plug and I'm really eager to try it out in the near future.
