I been looking around and was just curious as to which one of these two would be best for a beginner.

I enjoy the G-rider, but there is a bit of a point on it's tip that might be a bit to pronounced for the prostate of some.

Of the two I would go with the G-rider as the lack of texture will make it easier to use. The Ridge Rider's texture is pretty intense and not the best for a newbie.

Now if this will be the first toy to go in your ass, I might look at something smaller, maybe the G-play medium when it comes back in stock.

I agree, but also doesn't the shape look like it would glide in easier?

The shape of the G-play? Yes, it certainly does as there is less of a bulge at the point.
