The Violet Ripple might be okay but if you are a beginner I might suggest a bead toy instead. The Dare shackle would be good you can move up in sized beads I might also recommend something like this link Toys that have graduated balls or beads feel really good anally.

I would say take a look at the regular toys you're used to for anal play, and then go from there. Compare materials, circumferences, and lengths to see what would suit your needs. I'm personally facing a similar dilemma, since I've always used a dildo for anal play but now I'm looking for a purely anal toy.

The Violet Ripple was my first, but it's a little on the large side for a beginner, so if you're at all nervous go with something smaller and/or softer, such as the Beginner Anal Kit in silicone, which is pretty nice.
