I really like the Tantus Little Flirt or Mood Naughty small or medium for a beginner. Take a look at the diameter and circumference. You'll want something, like these three, with a diameter about 1" in diameter, which is as big around as a finger.

Neither can really be sterilized so I would go for something made of glass or silicone. Make sure it has a large flared base too!

For any anal toy, I'd recommend going with something made of silicone. PVC and jelly are not very safe, and they can't be fully disinfected.
