Waterfall wrote a detailed review on the Anal-T -- it should work for beginners, since it's only 1" diameter and 3" insertable -- her only complaint was that the vibe slips out occasionally.

I should specify. I'm not a beginner as I've had anal sex, I'm just a beginner to toys if you know what I mean.

This might work fine for you then, but personally I would go with something that is a bit more tapered at the end
