I'm looking to buy a toy for someone who has never used one and I'm lost. I know what I like, but I never really used beginner toys, so I can't guide her. Any suggestions would be great.

All are good, so I picked all of them. Perhaps start small, with a bullet vibe, unless she is looking for something insertable.

Ask her what she would be comfortable with. Does she want something that is to be inserted or just something that is for the clit-other erogenous zones.

I personally like clit vibes and massagers but that's just me.

she is probably small so just make sure its slim.

I said other because it really depends on your friend's view of sex toys as well as preferences. The conventional wisdom is to start with something non-realistic, non-intimidating. That is probably the safest place to begin if you can't discuss your friend's preferences. But if you can talk it over, you may find that never using a toy doesn't necessarily come out of apprehension.

Considering you already know your friend hasn't used toys, I'm willing to bet you'd have no issues discussing it further. In fact, maybe browsing EF together and discussing the options is the way to go!

I would say a traditional vibe that is slim. that way it can be used someone what like a dildo or for clitoral stimulation. multipourpose and non threatening while she finds out what she likes

I agree about going with a 'slimline' toy. They're not too thick or realistic, and they don't have any potentially painful g-spot curves. She also can use it externally, if that's more their style.

I would probably say something like a discreet vibe.

I agree that a slim vibe that can be used both externally or internally is a great idea. I do think it should be accompanied with basic care instructions; not everyone knows how to clean plastic, or what lubes are safe for silicone, depending on the material it's made from!

I wouldn't worry too much about getting a "beginner" toy, except in the sense that I'd go with something she can use externally--most women I know started out with clitoral stimulation before moving on to their G-spots. I really don't buy into the idea that beginners should start off with weaker toys, though--when I first started using toys I wasted a fair amount of money on mediocre vibrators with the idea that they were for beginnners--so I would get something with moderate to strong vibrations unless you know for a fact that she's really sensitive. It's much easier to dampen vibrations if they're too intense than it is too amp them up. A powerful slim vibe or pocket rocket would be my choice.

I agree with pasdechat a lot of people waste money on crappy toys and end up spending more money in the long run than they would have if they had bought a decent toy to begin with. I really like the Fun Factory bi-minis line - they're fairly non-invasive, silicone, waterproof, rechargeable - around $75 so they won't break the bank. My fav is Ocean because shes dual stim with a g-spot curve. buying a silicone vibe is nice it will last its safe it feels great and you can use it as just a dildo by not turning it on- especially nice if it doesn't have a huge control dial.
but a cheap bullet is also good- one that doesn't crap out after the first use? jimmyjane iconic

I also agree. I like vibes that can be either inserted or not, so you can really get multiple uses.

My first toy was a finger vibe (Finger Fun) and it was great - I actually still love it years later. Something small, non-intimidating and easy to hide would probably be best.

A simple silicone vibe would be a good place to start.

I don't know if she's a virgin or just new to toys, but I said everything but the massager......My first was a bullet and I STILL prefer them over anything else.

A starter vibe, so you can begin with the vibrations but move up to small insertion when you feel comfortable.
