Ever buy a sex toy just because it's so damn pretty?

Contributor: FieryRed FieryRed
I just ordered the Tantus Rocket yesterday. It's been on my wishlist for a while, partly because it's silicone, but mostly because of the beautiful pearlescent rainbow sherbet colors! However, I wasn't sure I wanted to spend $50+ on something that was likely to be too thick for my tiny vajayjay. Yesterday it was 35% off, so I gave in and added it to my order. We shall see!

I'm also eyeballing the Pipedream Metal Worx "Mr. Smooth", just because it's so sleek and shiny and comes in a cool case! I have an illness.

How about you? Have you purchased toys that you know probably won't see much use, just because you love the way they look?

Yes; I, too, have this illness.

No, I'm all about the function and feel. Who cares what it looks like?

All my toys must have both form and function that are to my liking. No exceptions!

I have purchased a few because of how they looked verses other toys I was also thinking about getting. But it is more important to me that they work like they are designed to. How they look is just a bonus to the experience.

Sorta...that blue Gigi, I just had to get. I love that color! But if it was absolutely not functional, I wouldn't have gotten it. But the other colors couldn't have swayed me. I actually waited for blue to come back in stock to order.

If I'm thinking about two similar toys I'll probably go for the cuter one, but material and function are the most important to me.

Usually I don't do this, but I recently ordered the Blue Swirl G glass dildo mostly because of how pretty it is. I was a little unsure about it because I've not had luck with g-spot curved toys in the past, but I thought I'd give this one a shot just because I love how it looks.

No, I just can't imagine buying a sex toy just because it's "pretty". It's not something I can put out on my coffee table and show off to the family and friends. If I can't use it/won't like it, I'm not spending money.

I go more for function than looks. I have some glass ones that I rarely use and leave out for decoration but did not order them for that reason.

I have to be 'attracted' to the toy to even want to use it.

I don't really buy toys just because they're pretty. I've bought toys that turn me on like crazy. Even though I wasn't going to use it for its intended use (like a harness).

The prettiness of a toy has made me more inclined to buy it! Never only because of looks though.

The look of the toy definitely influences me. I like having pretty and fun toys to take with me to play parties cause it's fun to play show and tell and is a great ice breaker!

I mostly agree with this--if it was something I had absolutely no use for, like a beautiful plug, I wouldn't order it. But, if it's at least something I can attempt to use, then the way it looks and the feel of it in my hands are very important parts of the experience for me.

Also, a toy might have a perfect size, general shape, and texture, but if it's ugly then I'm MUCH less likely to buy it! For example, I prefer nonrealistic dildos, but if it's a REALLY nice realistic, like most of the VixSkin line, then it absolutely cannot have veins and wrinkles all over it. (This is why I own the Spur and the Raquel.)

Gosh, I wasn't even thinking about play parties; that's a very good reason to have an attractive-looking toy!

This happened to me recently. I bought the O2 Revolution because it was so freaking pretty and had SOO many good review. Then I got it and didn't realize quite how girthy it was! Oh dear, so so sad. Looks like I'll be giving it away..

Aesthetics usually draw me in, but I make sure the toy has good quality/function before I buy it.

Same here, although sometimes a toys cute factor may really draw me to but it even if the reviews are only sub-par.

I've never bought a toy just because it looks pretty, but that is often a feature in my selection of choices for toys. The last thing I want is some ugly thing staring back at me, when I'm trying to enjoy myself. Such a mood breaker.

I remember the last toy I bought mostly because of it's look, it held out for only two months. So know I try to pay more attention to details, as apposed to looks.

I think I've done this maybe...two or three times.
Usually I try to stick with a good mix of form and function though.
It doesn't make much sense to buy lots of pretty things and then not be able to use them.

...barring an epic clearance sale deal on something you think you'll be able to use later, of course.

I really don't care what it looks like, as long as it works for me!. When I choose the one I like best from several choices, then looks come more into play.

I really want the Tentacle, even though I know that it would not appeal to my girlfriend at all.

Oh yes, glass has been my latest problem with this. I do use one or two from time to time but love arranging them out in display to look at the different colors and feel the textures.

The main thing I'm interested in is the function. The ugliest toy I have is also the best toy I have, the Eroscillator. Honest to God ugly, but it works so well!
