Contributor: Cunlinguist Cunlinguist
I've been getting urinary infections since using my share double dildo on my partner. Anyone experiencing similar problems? I believe it s because the bulbous end puts s o my pressure on my urethra as I thrust. What can be done? Repost cause the first time didn't work....

I think they're fiddling with the system. Earlier this hour, older post replies were described in negative seconds. "Last Post -2383 seconds ago", etc

You're probably right about the pressure. With the motion of the thrust it would be easy for sweat, personal juices, or lube to get pushed into places they shouldn't.

I'm prone to UTI's and have found the following works well:
1) Pee before and after sex
2) Drink plenty of water and other fluids
3) Get some cranberry juice or supplements into your system, and/or other acidic juices
4) Keep clean down there and keep your partner clean
5) Don't wear tight-fitting or non-breathable underwear

Also make sure if you have a UTI you go get the proper medications. The infection can spread upwards and will get worse if it goes untreated. The doctor will most likely test your urine and give you an antibiotic. Note that the antibiotic can nullify birth control pills.

Well I don't think that birth control will be a problem with this toy....but thanks! Do you know of any positions that put less pressure on the urethra?

Having your partner on top or trying a side-by-side position might work.

I swear by cranberry juice to help prevent UTIs and alleviate the symptoms until the antibiotics kick in. Make sure you get 100% juice, however - even better if it's 100% pure cranberry juice.

Admittedly, pure cranberry juice can be difficult to drink, but adding a little sparkling water or seltzer helps, and you'll know how much of the actual juice you're getting.

I use cranberry pill tablets. I can drink cranberry juice but it's easier to take a couple of them a few times a day than try to drink that much juice, for me.

Also you can get over the counter pain relievers specially for UTIs - they turn your urine orange, but they definitely help until the antibiotics have fully set in.

I get sistitus, which is a SEVERE form of a bladder infection, so girl, I KNOW your pain!!
Basically, since you said that you're putting pressure on your urethra, it sounds like you may be pushing bacteria up inside as you thrust.
Make sure you clean your toy before AND after use. This helps cut down the possibility of bacteria on the toy itself. Use antibacterial LIQUID soap. It spreads easier, and rinses off easier too.
Pee right after sex. This may not be the most romantic thing to do, but, since you're prone to UTI's, then it's something that you should do.
Eat plenty of yogurt. The active cultures in yogurt helps keep your UT clean. Also, drinking bitter juices, like cranberry, will also do that. I don't like straight cranberry, so I get the cran-grape stuff.
Drink plenty of water. This helps flush out your system often, which doesn't allow bacteria to stay and irritate.
Wear cotton underwear. This allows your genitals to breathe. Nylon/polyester keeps everything near you, such as sweat and bacteria. You can still wear sexy lingerie, just not all day long. Keep pants fairly loose too.
I hope this helps and that you're getting better!!!

When you're using antibacterial soap be sure that you let the soap sit on the toy for at least 30 seconds, otherwise you're getting questionable benefit.

How are you using the Share with your partner? I don't have the Share, but on the doubles I do have (Nexus Maximus and Happy Valley Tango) it is possible for fluids to run from the "getter" to the "giver" if the getter is above the giver (confused yet?) This would be a bigger problem if you were using the dildo anally and had a liquid lube - but it would be worth investigating for any activity (even though stopping in the middle to check on fluid movement might not be the sexiest thing to do). If this could be the problem, a position that puts you above your partner might help.

Peeing/washing after sex and cranberry juice are the best things to try first, though.

Wash then pee. Drink plenty of water. Coffee will make cystitis even more annoying. Cranbury juice is loaded with sugar, so the concentrated pills are better, and take pre and probiotic capsules as well. By the time people get yogurt home, the enzymes and healthy bacteria are nil. Wipe front to back, drop paper, front to back drop the paper. Never retrace your steps or make circles with the toilet paper, and always wash your hands before you pee and after.

If you find you need supplements for UTIs very often, you might want to look into a product called D-mannose. It works pretty much the same way as cranberry does (which is excellent, by the way), but if you wind up using cranberry too often, you run the risk of getting kidney stones. This is because cranberry in any form is high in oxalates (or so says my doc).
