Girth at front vs. Base

Contributor: edlanken edlanken
Is it considered a disadvantage if a toy (or penis) has a maximum girth closer to the front and then gets thinner towards the base? When such an object is fully inserted and hitting deep erogenous zones like the a-spot, does this make the girth at the base feel thinner (after accommodating the larger girth at the front) than it normally would (compared to objects with constant girth, or objects with maximum girth at the base)? Are intimate in-strokes less pleasurable with shapes that slightly narrow at the base when compared to ones that are of a constant girth or flare at the base?

I know there are many MUCH more important things to sex and relationships but I am inexperienced and have a shape with maximum girth at the front and narrows the further you go towards the base. I have been stressing out a alot about it lately and have been feeling insecure...replies are much appreciated.

My wife likes the type of dildo you describe. Her favorite for a while was a Basix dildo that had almost a 2" dia head that tapered to about 1.5". To use it we had to start with smaller toys to get hot and opened up a bit - then when we used it I would stroke it for g-spot and a-spot stimulation - but not withdraw completely. Repeated entry of the 2" head was too much.

Alas because of the unsafe material we got rid of the Basix and replaced it with the VicSkin Johnny - not the same profile - but close and workable - and a very safe material.

I really prefer toys that are girthy in general, or girthy at the base.

I recently reviewed the lucid dream no 9. It is tapered vibrator. I really enjoy it. So no I do not think it is a disavantage.

Hey guys thanks for the responses so far...to be more specific I was wondering about something that gets to around 1.5 inches wide near the front and tapers to around 1.35 at the base ...to a vagina, would this 1.35 diameter feel smaller than it normally would after experiencing the larger width near the front?

(fully inserted, would the 1.35 inch base of the larger tapered object feel smaller than:

A) a 1.35 inch wide object of constant girth, or
B) an object that reached a maximum girth of 1.35 at the base?)

are in-strokes more/less pleasureable?

Again thanks for the responses everyone...

Well, it depends on the woman. For me, I like to feel more full, and that tends to translate as a wider base on the toy. The actual walls of the vagina have very few nerves, so it's not always clear if something is "bigger or smaller", but toys of larger girth, or which are bulbous, tend to give a more full feeling, and some stimulation to the vaginal walls. Most nerves are concentrated at the vaginal opening, another reason that many women like a girthy base.

Thanks Elnoa,

Hmmm this was what I was worried about...that I would feel less filling because of my shape (as the full feeling seems to be a pretty universal preference)

So are you saying that when inserted, objects that widen towards the base feel fuller than objects that narrow towards the base, even if the two base girths are equal - like the flare near the front "spoils" the opening for the narrower girth at the base?

I was afraid that with my shape the further I penetrate, the less girth there is in the sensitive front parts of the vagina, so my in-strokes would feel less filling than objects with the same base girth but better shapes...

...is this a correct understanding of the situation, and if so what sorts of techniques can I use to make up for my shape?

Again thanks for the responses everyone...

Oh my goodness! When you're working with flesh, there is always a way to work around problems of this nature. In your case, perhaps you should focus more on how you are delivering your thrusts than the deepness of the thrusts. What really helps with my husband is if he can do it at a very good angle (so the focus is on stimulation of the upper vaginal wall) or if he makes shallow thrusts (so the focus is at the frontal portions of the vaginal opening). Also, you could try a cock ring of thicker or textured material which will add some "girth" at the base (if you don't have a problem sustaining erection, then get a larger size than you might normally need).

Again thank you for the response I sincerely appreciate the time you have taken, and I REALLY don't want to beat this to death but I feel like I haven't been able to clearly frame the question I have, so here it is:

Consider two toys, each with a 1 3/8" wide base girth. However, toy A flares out to 1 5/8" at the top and then narrows to 1 3/8" at the base, but toy B gradually reaches the maximum girth of 1 3/8" at the base. When fully inserting these, would toy A feel smaller than toy B (even if toy A has the same base girth and is overall larger in girth...does the flare "spoil" the opneing for the relatively smaller base)?

THEORETICALLY speaking, would getting a girth reduction near the front have the effect of making my penis have a fuller feeling during insertion?

...and I'll be sure to take your other advice very seriously...Thanks so much!

Best,
Ed

If they both have the same girth at the bottom, I don't think the added girth at the tip would make it feel smaller, but if your partner has a larger vaginal opening, the girth at the base may not be as noticeable. I hope that's finally the answer you were looking for!

Penetration can be a bit over-emphasized in my opinion. Remember that most of orgasms are in the mind, don't worry so much about your tool. Your best feature is making her feel secure and sexy. Many women do not come during penetration, so your hands, fingers, tongue, etc are sometimes more important. It's different with every partner, and it's always nice to be well-rounded in your abilities and your comfort with them
